The Jupiter line
The Jupiter line, in one breath

Try this today
- Look up your Jupiter lines first in the finder, then filter by the region you could realistically move to.
- Think of a place where luck kept turning up. Check it for Jupiter.
Everyone knows someone who moved somewhere and simply did well: the job came through, the flat was cheaper than expected, the right people turned up. When astrocartographers hear that story, they check for Jupiter.
In traditional astrology Jupiter is the great benefic, the planet of expansion, wisdom, optimism, travel and abundance. Its lines are read as places where life gets bigger and kinder. It is no surprise that most "best place to live" searches end up here.
Jupiter does have a quiet shadow. It expands whatever it touches, including habits, spending and waistlines. Things can feel so good that you stop paying attention. Some people on Jupiter lines overcommit because every opportunity looks like a yes.
Still, if you only check one planet before a move, the tradition would have you check this one.
The sky behind it
Jupiter, 1940 to 2026: 8.0′ a day on average, all twelve signs, declination -23.50° (September 18, 1984) to +23.49° (March 28, 1990).
Jupiter rising (AC)
Jupiter rising (AC line): optimism you can feel

On Jupiter's rising line, the tradition reads optimism, confidence, generosity and good health. The tradition reads feeling expansive and being seen as warm, wise or lucky.
It is a strong line for a fresh start, for study, for travel and for anyone who needs a dose of hope.
The classic warning is excess: too many plans, too much food, too much faith in the next big thing. Enjoy the abundance; keep a budget.

Jupiter setting (DC)
Jupiter setting (DC line): generous people find you

On the setting line, Jupiter arrives through other people. Astrocartographers read it as lucky partnerships, helpful mentors, generous clients and a partner who broadens your world.
It is one of the best lines for marriage and business partnerships in the tradition, and a good one for legal matters.
The only caution is leaning on others' luck. Bring something of your own to the table.
The sky behind it
Jupiter DC: curves through 29.0°E at 40°N, 28.3°E at the equator, 27.6°E at 40°S. 15 within 300 km: Istanbul (6 km), Johannesburg (13 km), Lusaka (22 km).
Jupiter overhead (MC)
Jupiter overhead (MC line): a reputation that grows

Jupiter at the top of the sky is read as one of the best career lines in astrocartography: promotion, recognition, opportunities and a reputation for wisdom or generosity.
It suits teaching, law, publishing, travel, academia, faith-based work and any business that wants to grow.
If the Sun MC line is a spotlight, the Jupiter MC line is a bigger stage. Make sure you want the audience.
The sky behind it
Jupiter MC: runs straight down the meridian at 61.7°W. 1 within 300 km: Halifax (150 km).
Jupiter underfoot (IC)
Jupiter underfoot (IC line): a generous home

On Jupiter's IC line, home is read as spacious, comfortable and welcoming. Astrocartographers link it to buying property, growing a family, hosting and feeling deeply at ease.
It is a lovely line for putting down roots and for later life, when a happy home matters more than a big job.
Pair it with a Moon or Venus line nearby and you have the traditional dream home.
The sky behind it
Jupiter IC: runs straight down the meridian at 118.3°E. 10 within 300 km: Nanjing (44 km), Hefei (97 km), Tianjin (97 km).

The benefic
Why Jupiter is called lucky
Hellenistic and medieval astrologers called Jupiter and Venus the two benefics, the planets that help, and Mars and Saturn the two malefics. Astrocartography inherited that view. It is a reading, not a law: some people do their best work on a Saturn line and drift on a Jupiter one.

Quick answers
What is the luckiest line in astrocartography?
Jupiter lines are the traditional lucky lines, with Venus lines a close second. Which Jupiter line suits you depends on your goal: MC for career, DC for partners, IC for home, AC for a fresh start.
What does Jupiter MC mean?
Read as career growth, recognition and opportunity, one of the strongest work lines.
Is the Jupiter DC line good for marriage?
Read as lucky partnerships and generous, mind-broadening partners, one of the best lines for love and business partnership in the tradition.
What does Jupiter IC mean?
The line where Jupiter was directly underfoot at your birth. It is read as a spacious, welcoming home, property and family growth.
Can a Jupiter line be bad?
Rarely, in the tradition. The usual caution is excess: overcommitting, overspending and taking good luck for granted.
