Data from the sky, not from users.
Shymea Research will publish studies derived from the ephemeris alone — how often planets retrograde, how eclipses cluster, when Saturn returns land. No user data, no charts from the app, nothing that cannot be recomputed by anyone with the same ephemeris.

What we will publish
Every study on this hub is computed from the same JPL DE442 ephemeris that powers the app, using the pipeline documented on our methodology page. Each will state the date range, the definitions used (for example what counts as a station), and the numbers themselves, so the result can be checked against any other ephemeris. Studies describe the sky; they do not test whether astrology works, and we will not present them as if they did.
What we will never publish
- Anything derived from Shymea users' birth data, questions, or chart readings. Birth data is sensitive personal information and stays inside the app.
- Aggregate statistics about who uses the app or what they ask.
- Claims that an astronomical pattern predicts a human outcome.

Study 05 — Testing a horary engine against William Lilly's own charts — published September 9, 2026. Lilly printed his figures, his reasoning and his verdicts in Christian Astrology (1647), which makes them testable. We recomputed 17 of his worked questions on DE442 and had our rule-based engine judge each one; it reaches his recorded verdict on 14. All three disagreements are published with the rule or the 17th-century longitude that causes them. Table downloadable.
Study 03 — Rarest and most common zodiac signs, ranked — published September 7, 2026. Not a guess: 62 million registered United States births by calendar day, placed against the Sun's exact sign changes, plus registry counts for other countries as their statistics offices publish them. Leo or Gemini is the most common Sun sign depending on the country and Capricorn the rarest almost everywhere, and the page separates the two causes — the Sun's unequal days per sign and the summer birth peak. Study 04 — Rarest and most common rising signs, by latitude — published September 7, 2026. Rising signs are not evenly distributed and the answer depends on where you were born: at 40°N Leo and Scorpio rise most often and Aries and Pisces least; south of the equator the order flips. Computed for latitude bands and 65 cities, with the check that shows hour-of-birth patterns cannot change it. Table downloadable.
Study 02 — Saturn Return windows by birth year, 1988–2002 — published September 7, 2026. For every birth year we computed where Saturn was (including the years it changed sign mid-year), then found every exact return pass for birth dates sampled through the year. The result is the earliest and latest date each cohort's first Saturn Return can begin and end, and how many passes it makes. Table downloadable.
Study 01 — How far apart are two ephemerides? — published September 6, 2026. Shymea computes positions from NASA JPL's DE442; almost all other astrology software uses the Swiss Ephemeris. We compared 870 planetary positions across 1900–2035. The two engines never disagreed about a sign or a whole degree; the median gap is 0.17 arcseconds, and the largest gaps turn out to be a difference in historical timekeeping rather than in the ephemeris. Planned studies (upcoming — no results yet)
- Upcoming: Retrograde frequency, 1900–2100 — for each planet, how many retrograde periods fall in the two centuries, their durations, and how the count and length vary from decade to decade.
- Upcoming: Eclipse family cadence — the spacing of solar and lunar eclipses within each Saros series over the same span, and how the eclipse points move through the tropical signs.
- Upcoming: Saturn return timing by birth year — the age at which the first and second Saturn returns fall for each birth year, and how Saturn's varying orbital speed shifts that age.
These three are labelled upcoming because they have not been run. When a study is published it appears above with its method, its date range and a downloadable table; until then there are no figures to quote.
Data already on the site
The site already publishes dated, ephemeris-derived pages you can use now: the astrological calendar with retrograde, ingress and eclipse dates; Sky Today, which reads the engine's live sky table; and the Learn guides, which explain the techniques the studies will measure.
