A stellium here means three or more of the ten planets, Sun to Pluto, in the same sign. That is more common than most people expect: 68.59% of 60,000 computed charts have at least one, so the useful question is where yours falls and how many planets it holds. Four or more in one sign turn up in 20.96% of charts, five or more in 3.93%.

How it is computed

Planet positions come from the Shymea engine (JPL DE442, Tropical zodiac). The ten bodies Sun through Pluto are grouped by sign; any sign holding three or more is a stellium. Nodes, Chiron, Lilith and the angles are not counted.

Houses are whole-sign: the rising sign is the 1st house, the next sign the 2nd, and so on. Without a birth time the rising sign is unknown, so only signs are shown. Rarity figures come from the same rule applied to 60,000 computed charts.

Common questions

Do I have a stellium in my birth chart?
Probably. In 60,000 computed charts, 68.59% had at least one sign holding three or more of the ten planets. Mercury and Venus never stray far from the Sun, so a Sun sign with both of them in it is already a stellium. Four or more planets in one sign is the rarer case, at 20.96%.
What house is my stellium in?
Count whole-sign houses from your rising sign: the rising sign is the 1st house, the next sign the 2nd, and so on round the zodiac. That needs a birth time. Without one the calculator still finds the sign of any stellium, but not its house, because the rising sign changes on average every two hours.
Which sign is a stellium most likely to be in?
For people born from 1950 to 2010, Virgo (10.87% of charts have three or more planets there) and Taurus least (3.15%). Four or more planets cluster most often in Capricorn (3.29%). The cause is generational: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto spent most of those decades in the signs from Virgo to Capricorn, so many people already have two slow planets in one sign before the Sun arrives.
Do Chiron, the nodes or the Ascendant count towards a stellium?
Not here. The calculator counts the ten bodies from the Sun to Pluto, the same ones used in the birth chart. Some astrologers add Chiron, the lunar nodes or the angles, which makes a stellium far more common and tells you less about where the weight of the chart sits.
Is a stellium the same as a conjunction?
Not always. By sign, planets at 2° and 28° of the same sign count as a stellium even though they are 26° apart and not in conjunction. When all three sit within a few degrees of each other, the stellium is also a multiple conjunction, and astrologers read it as more concentrated.
