The idea
What a Chiron return actually is

Try this today
- Before you run the calculator, write one sentence about what felt raw when you were around 7 to 12. Compare it with your Chiron sign afterwards.
- If you are past your return, ask what changed in the year around it. Small shifts count.
Somewhere around your fiftieth birthday, a small icy body that was in a certain spot on the day you were born slides back to that exact spot. That is the whole astronomy of a Chiron return. Everything else is meaning people have layered on top.
Chiron was found on November 1, 1977, by Charles Kowal at Palomar Observatory (Britannica). It orbits between Saturn and Uranus, and it later grew a faint coma, so it is listed as both minor planet 2060 Chiron and comet 95P. It is named after the wise centaur of Greek myth, and astrologers began reading it in birth charts soon after its discovery.
In that reading, your natal Chiron points at a tender spot: the thing that hurt early and that you may now be good at helping other people with. The return is the moment the cycle closes. People often describe it as a time when an old ache gets one more honest look, and when some of it finally turns into skill or calm.
The dates here are computed. Chiron's position comes from NASA JPL's Horizons system, day by day from 1920 to 2100, so your dates are not a rule of thumb like "age 50". They are the actual days.
Why the dates repeat
Most people get three passes, not one

Try this today
- Put all three dates in your calendar with a one-line note. Read the note again at each pass.
- If you only get one pass, your return is short and sharp. Give that week a little extra room.
Like every outer body, Chiron appears to back up for a few months each year as the Earth overtakes it. Near your return, that loop can carry it across your birth degree three times.
Take someone born July 1, 1975, with Chiron at 27°44′ Aries. Chiron crosses that degree on May 4, 2026, Nov 8, 2026, Mar 4, 2027. Someone born July 1, 1980, with Chiron at 17°00′ Taurus, gets May 13, 2031, Dec 24, 2031, Feb 27, 2032. Born July 1, 1985? Aug 2, 2035, Nov 5, 2035, May 13, 2036.
Astrologers usually treat the first pass as the opening, the retrograde pass as the review, and the last as the close. In practice the season around all three is what people talk about, not a single day.
The sky behind it
Passes are found by stepping day by day through the interpolated JPL table and solving for the moment Chiron's longitude equals the birth longitude. The table's interpolation error is under 0.006°.
The odd orbit
Why your Chiron square can come at 7 or at 23

Try this today
- Run the calculator for a parent or friend from a different decade and compare their square ages with yours.
Chiron's orbit is a stretched oval. At its closest it comes inside Saturn's orbit, at its farthest it reaches out near Uranus. That makes its speed through the zodiac wildly uneven.
Across one full lap, from its final entry into Taurus on Mar 28, 1977 to its next on Apr 14, 2027 (50.04 years), Chiron spent about 8.3 years in Aries and only 1.7 years in Libra.
So the in-between milestones, the square and the opposition, land at very different ages depending on your birth year. Someone born in 1970 (Chiron at 10°18′ Aries) and someone born in 1990 (Chiron at 17°40′ Cancer) live completely different Chiron rhythms. The return itself evens out, always near 50, because it needs one full lap no matter where it starts.

Chiron in Taurus 2026 to 2034: the return of everyone born 1976 to 1984

Chiron first touched Taurus on Jun 19, 2026 · 21:23 UTC, turned retrograde at 0°52′ Taurus on Aug 3, 2026 and backed into Aries on Sep 18, 2026. It re-enters Taurus for the long stay on Apr 14, 2027 and leaves for Gemini on May 5, 2034, after one dip back on Oct 23, 2033.
The last time Chiron was in Taurus, it entered on May 28, 1976 and finally left on Apr 11, 1984. Anyone born in that window has natal Chiron in Taurus, which means this whole transit is their return season.
Taurus is the sign of the body, money, food, comfort and worth. So the conversation this generation is having in their late 40s and early 50s tends to be about enough: enough rest, enough money, being enough. The hub page goes through it in detail, by rising sign.

Quick answers
How do I calculate my Chiron return?
Find Chiron's exact degree on your birth date, then find the dates Chiron comes back to that degree about 50 years later. The calculator above does both from NASA JPL Horizons data. You only need your birth date; Chiron moves so slowly that the time barely changes the answer.
What age is the Chiron return?
For everyone born 1940 to 2049, the first pass of the Chiron return lands between age 49.6 and 50.9. Chiron takes about 50 years to go once around the zodiac.
Who has their Chiron return in Taurus?
People born with Chiron in Taurus: roughly May 28, 1976 to Apr 11, 1984, with short gaps when Chiron dipped back into Aries or ahead into Gemini. Their returns fall while Chiron is in Taurus again, Jun 19, 2026 to May 5, 2034.
When does Chiron enter Taurus in 2026?
On Jun 19, 2026 · 21:23 UTC. It stations retrograde on Aug 3, 2026 at 0°52′ Taurus, slips back into Aries on Sep 18, 2026, and re-enters Taurus for the long stay on Apr 14, 2027.
Is Chiron in Taurus in 2027?
Yes, from Apr 14, 2027 onward. Before that, from January 1 to Apr 14, 2027, it is in late Aries, turning direct on Jan 6, 2027 at 26°16′ Aries.
Why does my Chiron return have three dates?
Chiron goes retrograde for about five months every year. Near your return it can cross your birth degree going forward, back up over it, then cross it a final time. Most people get three passes; a few get one or five.
Where is Chiron right now?
On 2026-10-18, Chiron is at 28°44′ Aries, moving retrograde.
