The Moon in Taurus: what you are looking at

Try this today
- Write one line tonight on how the day felt. Do it again after the Moon enters Gemini. Compare.
- Check the finder for the exact minute in your own time zone before you plan around it.
You glance up on the way home and there it is, hanging over the roofline. Astrologically, that Moon is sitting in Taurus, and it has been since Sun, Oct 25, 2026, 23:34 UTC.
This stay lasts 49.5 hours. At Wed, Oct 28, 2026, 01:01 UTC the Moon crosses into Gemini, and the mood astrologers read into the day shifts with it.
The sign is the same for everyone on Earth at a given moment, because it is measured from the center of the planet. What changes is your clock. If you are in New York and your friend is in Sydney, you can see the same ingress land on different calendar days. That is the most common reason two Moon calendars "disagree."
The last principal phase was the full moon at 2°46′ Taurus on Mon, Oct 26, 2026. Next up: the last quarter moon at 9°26′ Leo on Sun, Nov 1, 2026, 20:28 UTC.
The sky behind it
Positions are geocentric apparent ecliptic longitudes of date from the JPL DE442 ephemeris (Skyfield), tropical zodiac, UTC, found on a 10-minute grid and interpolated to about a minute. This page last rebuilt at Mon, Oct 26, 2026, 10:18 UTC.
Why it moves so fast
Two and a half days per sign, give or take a few hours

Try this today
- Pick tomorrow in the finder, then the day after. Watch the degree climb by roughly 12 to 15 a day.
The Moon goes all the way around the zodiac in about 27.3 days, its sidereal month. Divide 360 degrees by that and you get roughly 13 degrees a day, so a 30-degree sign takes a little over two days.
It is not perfectly even. The Moon's orbit is an ellipse, and near perigee (closest to Earth) it moves noticeably faster than near apogee. In the Moon ingress table behind this page, 201 stays from October 2026 through 2027, the quickest is 47.2 hours and the slowest 61 hours, with an average of 54.7.
That is why there is no tidy rule like "every Monday and Thursday." You need the actual ephemeris, which is what this page and its finder use. Over the table's span the Moon laps the zodiac about 17 times.

What astrologers read into each Moon sign

Try this today
- Plan by element: admin on an earth Moon, catch-ups on an air Moon, rest on a water Moon.
- If you garden or cut your hair by the Moon, the haircut calendar uses the same sign table.

In tradition the Moon rules the body, moods, habits and home, and it is at home in Cancer, the sign it rules (tradition also calls it exalted in Taurus). Its daily sign is read as the shared emotional weather: what feels easy, what feels like wading through sand.
Some shorthand astrologers use. Fire Moons (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) feel quick and bold. Earth Moons (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) favor practical, steady work. Air Moons (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) are talky and social. Water Moons (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) turn things inward and tender.
Today's Taurus Moon is the backdrop, not the script. Your own birth chart, especially your natal Moon, shapes how you actually take it. If you have never looked yours up, the Moon sign calculator takes a minute.
Tropical or sidereal
Why a Vedic app may say Aries

Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, tied to the seasons: 0° Aries is the March equinox point. Vedic astrology uses a sidereal zodiac tied to the stars, which today sits about 24 degrees behind because of the slow wobble of Earth's axis (precession).
We give the sidereal Moon using the Lahiri ayanamsa, the standard in India, modeled here as 23.853° at the year 2000 plus 50.29 arcseconds per year. Right now that moves the Moon from tropical Taurus back to sidereal Aries. The sidereal Moon enters Taurus on Tue, Oct 27, 2026, 15:36 UTC.
Neither is a mistake. They are two conventions. Just make sure you know which one a calendar uses before you compare.

Before the change
The void-of-course stretch
Before the Moon leaves Taurus, it usually goes "void of course": the gap between its last major aspect in a sign and its entry into the next. Some astrologers avoid starting new things then. The void-of-course tool lists the current periods.

Quick answers
What sign is the Moon in today?
At the last update (Mon, Oct 26, 2026, 10:18 UTC) the Moon was in Taurus. It entered Taurus on Sun, Oct 25, 2026, 23:34 UTC and moves into Gemini on Wed, Oct 28, 2026, 01:01 UTC. The finder on this page recomputes it live for your exact moment and time zone.
What sign is the Moon in tomorrow?
At noon UTC tomorrow (Tue, Oct 27, 2026) the Moon is in Taurus. If you live far east or west of Greenwich, check the finder: a sign change near midnight can make "tomorrow" different where you are.
How long does the Moon stay in one sign?
About two and a half days. Across the 201 Moon sign stays from October 2026 to the end of 2027, the shortest is 47.2 hours, the longest 61 hours and the average 54.7 hours. The Moon moves faster near perigee, which is why the length varies.
Is the Moon sign today the same everywhere in the world?
Yes. The sign is a geocentric position, so at a given instant it is the same for everyone. Only the clock time of the change differs by time zone, and that can move the change onto a different calendar day.
Why does another site show a different Moon sign today?
Usually one of three things: the change happens today and the two sites use different time zones; the other site uses the sidereal zodiac (Vedic astrology), which today puts the Moon in Aries; or the site is a daily list that only shows one sign per date.
What does the Moon sign today mean in astrology?
Astrologers read the Moon's daily sign as the emotional weather of the day: the mood people share, not your personal chart. Your natal Moon sign is fixed at birth and is a separate thing. Treat the daily Moon as a reflection prompt, not a forecast.
What is the next Moon sign change in 2026?
The next change after this update is Gemini on Wed, Oct 28, 2026, 01:01 UTC, then Cancer on Fri, Oct 30, 2026, 02:05 UTC. The full list for the next two weeks is in the table on this page.
