Today's verdict
Is today a good day? Monday's answer, plan by plan

Try this today
- Do the important thing in the clear hours: 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM ET.
- Today's green lights: resting up. Pick one and do it before lunch.
- Run the checker with your rising sign. The Moon's house from your sign can tip a Fine into a Good.
You wake up, reach for your phone, and the question is already sitting there with your first coffee: is today the day? To send the email, book the trip, start the thing, finally say it out loud?
Here's the sky's answer for Monday, October 26, 2026 (US Eastern). Yes, for resting up. Hold off on new starts, contracts, love, big buys, career and travel.
The Moon spends the day in Taurus, and it's a full Moon (exact at 12:12 AM ET). There is no void-of-course Moon today, so every hour counts. Through the day it meets: opposite Sun at 12:12 AM ET and square Mars at 10:18 PM ET.
Venus and Mercury are retrograde, and so are Neptune, Saturn and Uranus in the background. Monday belongs to the Moon in the old Chaldean week.
The table below gives each kind of plan its own verdict, and the checker further down runs the same rules for your date, timezone and sign. Astrology here is a tradition to think with, not a promise about how your day goes.
The sky behind it
Computed from NASA JPL's DE442 ephemeris for the US Eastern calendar day (midnight to midnight), with the Moon's sign and phase read at local noon. The page rebuilds every day; the checker below recomputes in your browser. Exact Moon aspects are geocentric, so they happen at the same instant everywhere; only the clock time changes.
| What you want to do | Verdict | The biggest reason |
|---|---|---|
| Start something new | Better another day | Full Moon (waning, better for finishing) |
| Sign a contract | Better another day | Mercury retrograde (the classic warning for paperwork) |
| Date, flirt or say how you feel | Better another day | Venus retrograde (old flames and second thoughts) |
| Make a big purchase | Better another day | Venus retrograde (values and prices get rethought) |
| Interview, pitch or ask for a raise | Better another day | Mercury retrograde (messages go astray) |
| Travel or book a trip | Better another day | Mercury retrograde (delays and changed plans) |
| Rest, declutter or end something | Good day | Full Moon (waning, the tradition's time to let go) |
The method
How astrologers decide if a day is good

Try this today
- Open the score breakdown in the checker to see exactly which rules fired.
- Choosing between two dates? Run both and compare the reasons, not just the label.
Picking a good day is its own branch of astrology. It's called electional astrology: instead of reading the chart you were born with, you choose the moment to begin something. Medieval astrologers wrote whole books on it, for founding cities, starting journeys and signing treaties.
Most of its rules lean on the Moon. It changes sign about every two and a half days and touches every planet once a month, so it's the piece of the sky that actually changes from one day to the next. Planets like Saturn barely move in a week; they set the season, not the day.
Our verdict is a plain score built from seven checks most electional astrologers use in some form: the Moon's phase (growing or shrinking light), whether it's void of course, the aspects it makes that day, which planets are retrograde, whether an eclipse is near, the Moon's sign, and the planet that rules the weekday. Each check adds or takes away a point or two, depending on what you're planning. Two or more is a Good day, zero or one is Fine with care, and anything below zero says another day would read better.
Is it scientific? No. Astrology's timing rules haven't held up in controlled tests, and we won't pretend otherwise. They're a tradition, and a surprisingly useful nudge to slow down, reread and pick your hours on purpose.
The sky behind it
| Check | What we look at | How it moves the score |
|---|---|---|
| Moon phase | Waxing (New to Full) or waning (Full to New); the dark Moon is the last 36 hours before New | Waxing helps beginnings (+1 to +2); waning and dark Moon favor rest and endings |
| Void-of-course Moon | Share of 8 am to 10 pm covered by a void (last Ptolemaic aspect to Sun through Saturn, until the next sign) | Half the day or more: -1 to -2, and never a full Good day for a beginning |
| The Moon's aspects | Exact conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines and oppositions the Moon makes that day | Easy contacts to Venus or Jupiter help (+1 to +2); hard ones to Mars or Saturn cost -1 |
| Retrogrades | Mercury, Venus and Mars at local noon | Mercury: contracts -3, travel -2. Venus: love -2. Mars: starts -1 |
| Eclipses | An eclipse within three days | -1, or -2 for brand-new starts |
| The Moon's sign | Cardinal, fixed or mutable; the Moon's own and exalted signs (Cancer, Taurus) and its weakest (Capricorn, Scorpio) | +1 or -1 by activity |
| The day's ruler | Sunday Sun, Monday Moon, Tuesday Mars, Wednesday Mercury, Thursday Jupiter, Friday Venus, Saturday Saturn | +1 when the ruler suits the activity |
The void Moon
Is the Moon void of course today?

Try this today
- No void today, so start whenever suits you.
- Use void hours for the inbox you've been avoiding.
- Planning a launch? Check the void before you set the time.
No, not today. The Moon is void of course from its last major aspect in a sign until it enters the next one. In that gap it is, in the old phrase, "going nowhere," and the tradition says plans begun then tend not to come to much.
It sounds dramatic until you see how often it happens. In October 2026 the Moon goes void 14 times, for about 14.4 hours on average. The longest stretch starts Oct 7, 2026, 18:57 UTC and runs 37.2 hours.
So nobody can avoid every void, and you don't need to. Astrologers mostly use it for timing the start of something: a launch, a first message, a signature. Routine work, errands, sleep and anything you've already started carry on as usual. Many people like void hours for exactly that: tidying, resting, thinking.
We use the classical rule: the last conjunction, sextile, square, trine or opposition to the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter or Saturn. Some modern astrologers count Uranus, Neptune and Pluto too, which makes voids shorter.
Beginnings
Is today a good day to start something new?

Try this today
- Can it wait? Fri Nov 13 is the next Good day for a start.
- Write the first step down tonight, then do it in the next clear window.
- Starting a business? We list the best days for it separately.
Best days to start a business in 2026Planetary hours for today
Today's answer: Better another day. The Moon is waning (full Moon), which the tradition saves for finishing and clearing out.
The old rule of thumb for any fresh start goes like this: begin while the Moon's light is growing, while it isn't void, and on a day when it meets Venus or Jupiter kindly rather than squaring Mars or Saturn. Cardinal Moon signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) are read as signs of beginnings. And the Moon itself is strongest in Taurus and Cancer, weakest in Scorpio and Capricorn.
The next Good days to start something new (US Eastern): Fri Nov 13, Sun Nov 15, Mon Nov 16, Wed Nov 18, Thu Nov 19 and Fri Nov 20. A new job, a new habit, a first post, a first day: pick the one that fits your life, and take the clear hours.
A good day doesn't make a bad plan work, and a so-so day won't sink a good one. If the date isn't yours to choose, choose your hour instead.
Luck
Is today a lucky day in astrology?

Try this today
- Plan one small bold ask for the luckiest day this week.
- Add your rising sign in the checker: the Moon in your own sign is your personal lucky day of the month.
Today's luck read: Low-key. The Moon doesn't touch Venus or Jupiter today. It also meets Mars the hard way at 10:18 PM ET.
In traditional astrology Jupiter is the greater benefic and Venus the lesser one: the planets of luck, generosity and ease. Their weekdays keep the names: Thursday is Jupiter's day (jeudi in French; English swapped in Thor), and Friday is Venus's (vendredi; English swapped in Frigg). A day when the Moon meets either of them on good terms is what astrologers would call lucky.
This week's luckiest-looking day is Thu Oct 29 (bright: Moon sextile Jupiter at 12:17 PM; Moon trine Venus at 5:43 PM). Lucky days are fun to plan around: a raffle ticket, a cold email, the brave haircut. Just keep money decisions on solid ground, whatever the sky says.
Contracts, money and travel
Mercury, Venus and Mars: what's retrograde today

Try this today
- Signing anything this week? Read it twice, once for money and once for dates.
- Leave extra time on any trip until Nov 13, 2026.
Mercury is retrograde until Nov 13, 2026. Venus is retrograde until Nov 14, 2026. Mars is direct; it turns retrograde Jan 10, 2027. These three set the tone for paperwork, love and money, and momentum. Dates are UTC.
Mercury rules messages and paperwork, so its retrograde is the classic reason to reread a contract, back up a phone or leave slack around a flight. Venus rules love, beauty and spending, so its retrograde is read as a time for second thoughts about both. Mars rules drive; when it backs up, new pushes tend to stall.
Contracts today: Better another day. The next Good day to sign is Sun Nov 15. Love today: Better another day. Next Good day for love: Tue Nov 17.
None of this is legal or financial advice. If a lease, an offer or a closing date can't move, sign it carefully and keep copies.
Your check
Is it a good day for you?
Pick a day, your timezone and what you're planning. Add your rising sign (or your Sun sign if you don't know it) for the personal layer: which house of your chart the Moon is lighting up. It's the same set of rules as the verdict above, run live in your browser, for any day up to Dec 30, 2028.
What do you want to do?
Better another day
If it can wait, wait. Mon, Oct 26, 2026 reads better for other plans.
Start something new
The Moon is in Taurus (full Moon). Monday is the Moon's day. Retrograde: Neptune, Saturn, Uranus, Venus, Mercury.
Best hours (8 am to 10 pm, Moon not void): 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Why: the score, rule by rule (-2)
- -1 Full Moon (waning, better for finishing)
- -1 Moon square Mars at 10:18 PM
- -1 Mercury retrograde (plans get revised)
- +1 Moon in Taurus, one of its strongest signs
Luck read: Low-key. Moon square Mars at 10:18 PM (a tense one); the Moon is strong in Taurus.

Love
Is today a good day for love?
Better another day. For a first date, a big talk or that message you've drafted twelve times, the tradition looks for a waxing Moon meeting Venus or Jupiter kindly, and no hard contact to Mars or Saturn. Venus is retrograde until Nov 14, 2026, which astrologers link with exes resurfacing and second thoughts.

The next Good day for love is Tue Nov 17. Friday, Venus's own day, gets a small bonus. Add your sign to the checker: the Moon in your 5th or 7th house is the romance and partnership part of your chart.
Endings
Bad days are good days for something
Rest and endings today: Good day. A waning Moon, a void Moon and the dark Moon before the New Moon are all poor times to begin, by the old rules, and that makes them good times to finish. Cancel the subscription. Clear the camera roll. Have the honest talk that closes a chapter. Sleep in.

Saturday, Saturn's day, gets the bonus here: the planet of endings, structure and long sighs.

Quick answers
Is today a good day according to astrology?
For Monday, October 26, 2026 (US Eastern): Yes, for resting up. Hold off on new starts, contracts, love, big buys, career and travel. The Moon is in Taurus (full Moon) and not void of course today. The verdict is a reading of traditional timing rules, not a forecast.
Is today a good day to start something new in astrology?
Better another day. The tradition favors a waxing Moon that isn't void and that meets Venus or Jupiter kindly. The next Good days for a fresh start are Fri Nov 13, Sun Nov 15, Mon Nov 16 and Wed Nov 18.
What day is lucky for me today, astrologically?
Today's general luck read is low-key. For a personal read, enter your rising sign (or Sun sign) in the checker: it finds the Moon's house from your sign. The Moon in your own sign, about two and a half days a month, is the classic personal lucky day.
Is the Moon void of course today?
No, the Moon is not void of course at any point on Oct 26, 2026 (US Eastern).
Is Mercury retrograde today?
Mercury is retrograde until Nov 13, 2026 (UTC). Venus is retrograde until Nov 14, 2026. Mars is direct; it turns retrograde Jan 10, 2027.
What is the luckiest day of the week in astrology?
Traditionally Thursday and Friday. Each weekday is ruled by one of the seven classical planets in the Chaldean order, and Thursday belongs to Jupiter and Friday to Venus, the two benefics. Wednesday (Mercury) is the classic day for paperwork and travel.
What makes a bad day in astrology?
By the electional rules most astrologers use: a Moon void of course for most of the day, the dark Moon just before the New Moon, an eclipse within a few days, or a Moon squaring Mars or Saturn. Mercury retrograde is the classic warning for contracts and travel. None of these is dangerous; they're cues to pick your hours or wait.
How accurate is an astrology good-day checker?
The sky part is exact: every time comes from NASA JPL's DE442 ephemeris and our eclipse dates match NASA's catalogue. The meaning is tradition, not science. Controlled studies haven't shown that timing rules change outcomes, so use the verdict as a prompt to plan with care, not as a prediction.
