The short version
What a Juno sign is, and what it is not

Try this today
- Find your Juno sign, then read your Venus sign next to it. Notice where what attracts you and what keeps you agree, and where they argue.
- Ask a partner or best friend for theirs. Compare notes on what you each need to feel chosen.
- Read the Juno in your sign page, then the opposite sign. The opposite sign often holds the lesson.
You have probably heard your big three. Sun, Moon, rising. Then someone in the group chat says, "okay but what's your Juno?" and suddenly everyone is checking.
Juno is an asteroid, the third one ever found, and modern astrologers use it for one specific thing: committed partnership. Not the crush. Not the chemistry. The kind of bond you sign a lease for, and what has to be true for you to feel respected inside it.
Your Juno sign is the zodiac sign Juno was passing through when you were born. It describes your needs in a long-term partner: honesty for some, loyalty for others, freedom, beauty, a shared plan. Your Juno house (from birth time and place) shows the part of life where commitment plays out.
It does not tell you who you will marry or when. No placement does. Think of it as the fine print on your heart's contract, the clauses you did not know you had written.
The calculator below reads Juno's position from NASA JPL's Horizons system, NASA's public ephemeris service, so your answer is computed, not guessed.
The real asteroid
Juno the asteroid: why it lingers in some signs

Try this today
- Look up whether you were born during a Juno retrograde. The calculator says direct or retrograde for your birth date.
Juno is a real rock, roughly 250 km across, orbiting the Sun in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. The German astronomer Karl Ludwig Harding found it on 1 September 1804, after Ceres and Pallas (Wikipedia). It takes about 4.36 years to go around the Sun, on a tilted, stretched orbit: eccentricity about 0.26, inclination about 13°, per JPL's orbital elements.
That stretch is why Juno signs are not equally common. When Juno is far from the Sun it moves slowly, and from Earth it seems to dawdle through the part of the zodiac where that happens. Across 1920 to 2040 it spends 13.3% of its time in Scorpio and 12.7% in Sagittarius, but only 4.5% in Gemini. So if half your friends have Juno in Scorpio, that is not a coincidence. It is orbital mechanics.
Like every planet seen from Earth, Juno sometimes appears to move backwards. Between 1920 and 2040 it turns retrograde 93 times, about once every 473 days, for 73 to 114 days each time. Its path also swings well off the ecliptic, up to 25° north or south, far more than any planet.
You cannot see Juno with the naked eye. Near its best oppositions it reaches about magnitude 7.5, a binocular target (Wikipedia). In 2026 it came opposite the Sun on Jul 26, 2026 · 16:59 UTC, at 3°44′ Aquarius.

The name
Juno the goddess: queen, wife, and keeper of vows

Try this today
- Ask yourself what a vow means to you: a feeling, a promise, a contract, a habit? Your Juno sign often answers the same question.
- Notice where jealousy shows up in your relationships. Juno says it usually points at a need nobody has named yet.
The asteroid takes its name from Juno, the Roman queen of the gods, sister and wife of Jupiter, and the counterpart of the Greek Hera (Wikipedia)). The Romans honoured her as a goddess of marriage and, as Juno Lucina, of childbirth. Married women kept her festival, the Matronalia, on 1 March.
Her sacred bird was the peacock. In Book I of Ovid's Metamorphoses, after Mercury kills the hundred-eyed watchman Argus, Juno takes his eyes and sets them in the feathers of her bird (Ovid, tr. Kline). In Book VI of the Fasti, Ovid even has Juno argue that June is named for her, though he lets rival voices make their case and never settles it (Fasti VI).
The myths also give Juno a famously jealous streak, pursuing Jupiter's many lovers. Astrologers kept both sides when they adopted the asteroid: Juno as loyalty and the dignity of the vow, and Juno as jealousy, power and fairness in a relationship.
Asteroids came into wide astrological use in the 1970s. Eleanor Bach's 1973 ephemeris of Ceres, Pallas, Juno and Vesta is usually credited with starting it (Soho House). So Juno readings are a modern layer on an old tradition, and they say so here.

How to read your Juno: sign, house and the people who touch it

Try this today
- Use the partner field in the calculator. It compares their Sun sign with your Juno sign, as a conversation starter.
- If you know your birth time, check which house Juno sits in, then read that house's note.
Descendant sign calculatorWhen will I get married? (astrology)
Start with the sign. It describes the flavour of commitment you need. Juno in a fire sign (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) wants passion and freedom. In earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), reliability and something built together. In air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius), friendship and talk. In water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces), emotional depth and safety.
Then the house. With a birth time, the calculator shows Juno's house using whole-sign houses: the sign on your Ascendant is the 1st house, the next sign the 2nd, and so on. Juno in the 7th, the traditional house of partners, puts partnership front and centre. Juno in the 10th ties commitment to a shared public life. Each house note in the calculator says what astrologers usually read there. Want to see how house systems change things? Try whole sign vs Placidus.
Then the contacts. Astrologers look at planets near your Juno, especially Venus, the Moon and the Sun, and in synastry at a partner's planets landing on it. A partner's Sun or Venus on your Juno is often read as a strong commitment signal. The karmic synastry calculator and synastry aspects go deeper.
Finally, the shadow. Every Juno sign has an unhealthy version: possessive, people-pleasing, cold, restless. It is not a verdict. It is the place to be extra honest with yourself.

Born retrograde?
Juno retrograde at birth
Juno is retrograde about 21% of the time, so roughly one birthday in 5 has it. Astrologers often read a retrograde Juno as someone who rethinks the rules of commitment, or takes a second pass at partnership later in life. The 2026 retrograde ran Jun 5, 2026 to Sep 17, 2026.

Quick answers
What is my Juno sign?
Your Juno sign is the zodiac sign the asteroid Juno occupied when you were born. Enter your birth date in the calculator on this page. It reads Juno's position from NASA JPL's Horizons ephemeris, so the sign should match any good chart program (tropical zodiac).
Do I need my birth time to find my Juno sign?
Not for the sign. Juno moves at most 0.6° a day, so a birth date is enough unless Juno was right on a sign line that day (the calculator warns you). You need the time and place for the house.
What does Juno mean in astrology?
In modern Western astrology, Juno describes committed partnership: what you need from a long-term partner to feel respected and loyal, and how you handle fairness, jealousy and promises. Venus is attraction; Juno is the vow.
What sign is Juno in right now?
As of Oct 26, 2026, Juno is at 0°31′ Aquarius, moving direct. Its next sign change is into Pisces on Jan 15, 2027 · 00:03 UTC.
Is Juno your soulmate asteroid?
Juno is often called the marriage or soulmate asteroid, but it does not name a person. It describes the kind of partnership you are built for. Many astrologers also look at a partner's planets falling on your Juno in synastry.
Why do so many people have Juno in Scorpio?
Juno's orbit is stretched, so as seen from Earth it crawls through some signs and hurries through others. Between 1920 and 2040 it spends 13.3% of its time in Scorpio and 12.7% in Sagittarius, but only 4.5% in Gemini.
When is Juno retrograde in 2026?
Juno stations retrograde on Jun 5, 2026 at 11°00′ Aquarius and turns direct on Sep 17, 2026 at 25°40′ Capricorn, 103 days in all.
Is Juno in Aquarius in 2026?
For part of it. Juno moves into Aquarius on Mar 29, 2026; Juno moves back into Capricorn on Aug 11, 2026; Juno moves into Aquarius on Oct 24, 2026.
