Free tool · Eclipses
Eclipse Impact Calculator: the next eclipses in your chart.
Enter your birth details and see every solar and lunar eclipse in the next eighteen months placed in your natal chart: the sign and degree of each eclipse, which of your twelve houses it falls in, and any natal planet or angle it conjoins, opposes or squares within a tight orb. Eclipse dates come from the Shymea engine's Skyfield search.
Full method, orbs and ephemeris on the methodology page.
Eclipses are new and full Moons that fall close to the lunar nodes. Astrologers read them by degree: an eclipse within a few degrees of a natal planet, or on the Ascendant or Midheaven, is treated as personal; one that touches nothing is read by house alone.
The tool does not interpret. It shows the geometry, which is the part that can be checked, and leaves the reading to you or to the course chapters linked below.
How this is calculated
Your natal chart is computed by the engine from your birth date, time and place in the Tropical zodiac with Placidus houses. The eclipse list comes from the engine's eclipse search, which finds each syzygy near the nodes with the JPL DE442 ephemeris and records the eclipse's ecliptic longitude.
Each eclipse longitude is then placed against your twelve house cusps and compared with your Sun, Moon, Mercury through Pluto, Ascendant and Midheaven. Conjunctions and oppositions are listed within 5°, squares within 3°. Nothing wider is shown.
Common questions
- Do I need my birth time?
- For the house column, yes: houses turn a full circle every day. Contacts to the Sun and the planets Mercury through Pluto do not depend on the time; contacts to the Moon, Ascendant and Midheaven do.
- How long does an eclipse matter?
- Traditional practice reads the weeks around the eclipse most strongly, then watches for the eclipse degree to be triggered by later transits. The tool shows the geometry only.
- Why are some eclipses not visible where I live?
- Visibility is a matter of where the shadow falls. Astrological use of an eclipse is by zodiac degree, not by whether you could see it.
