Progressed Moon Calculator: where it is today.

This tool computes your secondary-progressed Moon for today: its sign, degree and natal house, the month the current sign chapter began, and the approximate month it enters the next sign. It also lists every progressed planet beside its natal sign, using the day-for-a-year method on the tropical zodiac.

Method: see how Shymea calculates.

Secondary progressions advance the birth chart one ephemeris day for each year of life. The progressed Moon moves about one degree a month, so it changes sign roughly every two and a half years; that cadence is why it is the most-watched progressed body.

The house given is the natal Placidus house the progressed longitude falls in, so results are strongest when the birth time is known.

How this is calculated

We take your birth moment, add one day per year of age (365.2422 days = one year), compute the planets for that ephemeris date from the JPL DE ephemeris, and place them against your natal houses. The sign-change date is found by stepping the progressed Moon forward until it crosses the next 30° boundary.

Full method notes are on the methodology page.

Common questions

Why does my progressed Moon differ from another site?
Sites differ on the year length used (365.2422 vs 365.25 days) and on the house system. A difference of a few arcminutes is normal; a different sign means one of the two used a different birth time.
Do I need my birth time?
For the sign and degree, no: the Moon moves about 1° a month by progression, so a noon default is within a few arcminutes. For the house, yes.
