Free tool · Annual profections
Annual Profection Calculator: your year's house.
This tool computes your annual profection for the current year of life: the whole-sign house counted from your Ascendant (age mod 12, plus one), the sign on that house, and the sign's traditional ruler, called the time lord. A twelve-year table shows the houses activated in the surrounding years.
Method: see how Shymea calculates.
Annual profections are a Hellenistic timing method. Each birthday the count advances one house, so the sequence repeats every twelve years: ages 0, 12, 24 and 36 are all first-house years. The year runs from one birthday to the next, not by calendar year.
How this is calculated
We compute your natal Ascendant from your birth data (JPL DE ephemeris, tropical zodiac), take its sign as the first whole-sign house, and count forward by your completed age. The time lord is the traditional domicile ruler of the resulting sign.
Full method notes are on the methodology page.
Common questions
- Do profections use whole-sign houses?
- Yes. The technique predates quadrant houses and counts signs from the Ascendant sign.
- Why is a birth time required?
- The Ascendant changes sign roughly every two hours, and it sets house 1 for the whole count.
