If you booked a cut for the first weekend of November, the old Moon calendars would nod along. The Moon starts the month in Leo, on Sunday, November 1, then moves through Virgo from November 3 to 5. Those are the two signs European Moon-calendar books keep calling the hair days: Leo for body, Virgo for a cut that keeps its line.
Here is the twist. The Moon is past full, so it is shrinking the whole time, from about half lit on the 1st to a slim crescent by the 5th. In the Farmers' Almanac way of reading phases, waning is the half for slowing growth. So these are days for a fringe you do not want in your eyes by Christmas, a bob that should stay a bob, or a fade that needs to last until your next appointment.
The Moon comes back to Leo on November 28 to 30, a Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Again it is waning, still around three-quarters lit on the 28th. That is a long-weekend reset right after the holiday rush.
What November does not have is a single waxing Leo or Virgo day. If you are growing your hair out, the tradition would steer you to a plain waxing day outside the water signs instead, such as the Aries and Taurus stretch from November 20 to 23.
The Moon this month

The new Moon arrives on November 9 in Scorpio, and the Moon is in that water sign from late on November 7 through November 9. Folk calendars mark the water signs as skip days, so treat that weekend as a conditioning weekend rather than a cutting one.
The full Moon follows on November 24, at 2° Gemini. The Farmers' Almanac calls November's full Moon the Beaver Moon. Gemini is an air sign, and air-sign days are the ones Moon calendars set aside for colour. If you are thinking about a gloss, a tone refresh or a few face-framing highlights, November 24 and 25 fit the tradition neatly.
Then the Moon slips into Cancer on November 26 and 27. In the United States that Thursday, November 26, is Thanksgiving. The calendar says skip the scissors that day, which is convenient, because you will be busy with the potatoes anyway.
