Which zodiac sign has the most billionaires?
We counted 506 of them, sign by sign, against the calendar. Libra wins the headline. Chance wins the argument.

The count
Libra on top, Scorpio at the bottom, and a twist

Try this today
- Find your own sign in the table below and see how far it sits from 100%.
- Open the CSV and sort by birth year. Notice how the sample skews older.
- Ask anyone who quotes a "richest sign" list for their sample size. Ours is 506.
Every few months a list goes around: the richest zodiac signs, ranked. They rarely say where the names came from, and they almost never compare the result with how many people of each sign you would expect anyway. So we did it the slow way.
We pulled every person on Wikidata with a recorded net worth of at least US$1 billion and a birth date known to the day. That gave 506 people, born between 1919 and 2015. For each birth date we computed where the Sun was with NASA's JPL DE442 ephemeris, the same one our birth charts use, and tallied the signs.
Libra came first with 50. Leo was close behind with 49. Scorpio came last with 32. If you are a Libra, screenshot that now.
Then we asked the boring question that matters: how many would each sign get if signs had nothing to do with money? Signs are not all the same length (the Sun lingers about two days longer in some than others), so each sign's "fair share" is its share of the calendar. Against that, Libra sits at 119% and Scorpio at 77%. A test across all 12 signs gives p = 0.854. In plain words: a random shuffle of birthdays would produce a spread this lumpy most of the time.
The sky behind it
Query run 2026-10-18T11:46Z. 5 people with two conflicting birth dates on Wikidata were dropped rather than guessed. Sun sign at 12:00 UTC on the birth date, tropical zodiac, geocentric.
Why fair share matters
A sign can lead the list just by being longer

Here is the trap most rankings fall into. The Sun moves fastest in early January and slowest in early July, because Earth is closest to the Sun in January. So the summer signs are a little longer on the calendar than the winter ones.
Across 1930 to 2009, our baseline, the longest sign held 8.61% of all days and the shortest 8.06%. In a sample of 506, that alone is worth a few people per sign. A raw count hands the longer signs a head start.
That is why the table reports both numbers: the raw count and the ratio to fair share. Libra still leads on the ratio, at 119%. But the strongest single-sign signal in the whole study, Scorpio, has a binomial p-value of 0.144. With 12 signs to test, you would expect at least one to look that unusual by luck.
There is a second, quieter bias we cannot remove: births are not spread evenly through the year, and the pattern differs by country and decade. We used a calendar baseline, not a births baseline, and we say so.
By element
Air signs edge ahead, Water signs trail

Try this today
- Look at your whole chart, not just the Sun. Your Moon and rising often tell a different story.
- Read your Midheaven sign. Astrologers traditionally look there, not the Sun, for career themes.
Group the signs into their four classical elements and the numbers get bigger, which makes the gaps easier to read.
Fire: 127 billionaires against 127 expected (100%).
Earth: 129 billionaires against 126 expected (102%).
Air: 138 billionaires against 127 expected (109%).
Water: 112 billionaires against 127 expected (89%).
So yes, air signs come out on top and water signs at the bottom. Before anyone builds a personality theory on that, remember that the twelve-sign test already said the whole table is consistent with chance. Grouping does not create a signal that was not there. It is fun to look at, and that is all.
The names
The ten richest in the sample, and their Sun signs

For the curious, here are the ten highest net worth figures Wikidata records in our sample, with each person's computed Sun sign:
- Elon Musk, born June 28, 1971: Cancer
- Bernard Arnault, born March 5, 1949: Pisces
- Jeff Bezos, born January 12, 1964: Capricorn
- Jensen Huang, born February 17, 1963: Aquarius
- Warren Buffett, born August 30, 1930: Virgo
- Bill Gates, born October 28, 1955: Scorpio
- Mukesh Ambani, born April 19, 1957: Aries
- Julia Koch, born April 12, 1962: Aries
- Changpeng Zhao, born September 10, 1977: Virgo
- Amancio Ortega, born March 28, 1936: Aries
Notice there is no single sign running away with the top. The ten split across 7 different signs.
A note on the money figures: they are whatever Wikidata holds, and some entries are years old (each one carries its own "as of" date in the CSV). We use them only to decide who is in the sample, at or above US$1 billion, never to rank signs by wealth.
Your billionaire twins
Find your sign in the billionaire count
Pick your birthday. We compute your Sun sign in your browser, show how your sign did in the sample, and name any billionaires who share your exact day.
You are a Capricorn. In our sample of 506 billionaires, 41 are Capricorns, rank 7 of 12.
A sign this size would expect about 41 by chance alone, so Capricorn sits at 101% of its fair share. That is right on the coin flip.
Exact birthday twins in the sample: Colin Huang (1980), Joseph Tsai (1964), Ronald Perelman (1943), Mark Walter (1960), Aw Cheng Chye (1924)
A few Capricorn billionaires: Jeff Bezos, Wang Wei, Dan Gilbert, Vladimir Potanin, Lee Kun-hee, Henry Kravis, James Goodnight, Colin Huang, and 33 more.

Method
How we built it, so you can rebuild it
- Wikidata SPARQL query: humans (Q5) with a net worth (P2218) in US dollars of 1,000,000,000 or more, and a birth date (P569) at day precision. The exact query is printed in the sources.
- One row per person. If Wikidata held two different birth dates, we dropped the person (5 cases). People without an English name label were dropped too.
- Sun sign: apparent geocentric ecliptic longitude of the Sun at 12:00 UTC on the birth date, JPL DE442, tropical zodiac.
- Cusp flag: birth times are not public, so if the Sun changed sign anywhere within that local calendar day for any time zone, the row is flagged (45 people). Without them the test still finds nothing (p = 0.542, 461 people), and Libra leads.
- Baseline: days per sign, 1930 to 2009. Test: chi-square goodness of fit, 11 degrees of freedom, plus a binomial test per sign.

Limits
What this study cannot tell you
Wikidata is not the Forbes list. It holds the billionaires volunteers have entered, which leans toward famous, older and Western names, and includes some people whose recorded fortune is historical. Forbes tracks thousands of billionaires each year; our sample is the 506 with a public, day-exact birth date on Wikidata.

It also cannot see birth times, so it says nothing about rising signs or houses. And no count like this can tell you what your chart means for your own bank account. That part is yours to write.

Quick answers
Which zodiac sign has the most billionaires?
In our October 18, 2026 count of 506 billionaires with a day-exact birth date on Wikidata, Libra has the most (50), followed by Leo (49). Scorpio has the fewest (32). None of these gaps is bigger than random chance produces in a sample this size (chi-square p = 0.854).
What is the richest zodiac sign in 2026?
By head count, Libra. By the single richest person in the sample, Cancer, because Elon Musk (born June 28, 1971) has the highest net worth recorded on Wikidata. One person is not a pattern, so treat both answers as trivia.
Are Capricorns really the richest sign?
Not in this data. Capricorn has 41 billionaires against about 41 expected by chance, almost exactly its fair share. The Capricorn-equals-money idea comes from the sign's traditional ruler, Saturn, and its association with structure, not from a count.
Is there any scientific link between zodiac signs and wealth?
This count found none. A chi-square test of all 12 signs against the calendar baseline gave p = 0.854, far from the usual 0.05 threshold, and no single sign differed from its expected share at that level either. Astrology here is a language for reflection, not a predictor of income.
Which zodiac sign has the fewest billionaires?
Scorpio, with 32 people against about 41 expected. That is the biggest shortfall in the table, and it is still well within random variation (binomial p = 0.144).
Where can I download the billionaire birthday data?
The full list (name, Wikidata ID, birth date, computed Sun sign, cusp flag, and the net worth figure Wikidata records with its date) is free as a CSV at https://www.shymea.com/research/zodiac-signs-of-billionaires/data.csv. Please credit Shymea and Wikidata.
What zodiac sign is Elon Musk?
Elon Musk was born on June 28, 1971, which puts his Sun in Cancer. Jeff Bezos (January 12, 1964) is a Capricorn and Warren Buffett (August 30, 1930) is a Virgo.
