Pisces and the twelve animals
Pisces is the first full sign of the new Chinese year, almost always. Here are the rare exceptions, every Pisces birth year by animal, and Pisces in the 2026 Fire Horse year.

- Born in the first two days of Pisces? Check the date tool. You may be in one of the rare split years.
- Write down what the new Chinese year's animal means to you, then what Pisces means. Notice which one feels like home.
- Make something this week with no purpose at all. Both halves of most Pisces combos approve.
Pisces is the last sign of the Western zodiac and the dreamiest. Astrology reads the Pisces Sun as empathic, creative and porous to the moods around it, a mutable water sign that would rather float than march.
In the Chinese calendar, Pisces has a neat position: it usually comes right after Lunar New Year. The new moon that starts the Chinese year almost always arrives while the Sun is still in Aquarius, so by the time Pisces season begins, the new animal is in charge. That makes Pisces, in practice, the first complete Western sign of each Chinese year.
Almost always. In the 120 years from 1924 to 2043, there are a couple of years when Lunar New Year arrives late enough that the first day or so of Pisces still belongs to the old animal. The tool below lists them, and the exact windows.
For nearly every Pisces, then, your animal is simply your birth year's animal. Just check the date if you were born in the first days of the sign.

A Pisces Fire Horse
Every Pisces born in 2026 is a Fire Horse. Lunar New Year 2026 fell on February 17, and the Sun entered Pisces the next day, so the whole of Pisces season 2026 sits inside the new Fire Horse year. Pisces was the first full sign of it.
Tradition reads the Horse as bold and restless, and Pisces as dreamy and adaptive. A Pisces Fire Horse is a romantic with momentum: someone who follows a feeling a very long way. The fire adds courage to Pisces' imagination; Pisces softens the Horse's bluntness. The shadow is escaping instead of choosing. Pick a direction and the Horse will happily carry the dream there.

The solar months
Pisces's two month animals: the Tiger and the Rabbit
Pisces holds the end of the Tiger month and the start of the Rabbit month. It opens at Yushui, Rain Water, when snow turns to rain, and turns at 15 degrees Pisces with Jingzhe, Awakening of Insects, the term for the first spring thunder waking hibernating creatures.
Yushui also plays a quiet role in the Chinese calendar: it is the principal term of the first lunar month, which is part of why Lunar New Year lands where it does. An early-March Pisces is a Tiger-month baby in BaZi; a mid-March one a Rabbit-month baby.

The hard side
Pisces's shadow
Pisces with a soft animal (Rabbit, Goat, Pig) can drift. The tradition's balance is structure: a routine, a deadline, a friend with an earth sign who asks how the project is going.

Quick answers
What Chinese zodiac sign is Pisces?
Pisces has no fixed animal; it is the animal of your Chinese birth year. In BaZi month terms, early Pisces falls in the Tiger month and late Pisces (from Jingzhe, 15 degrees Pisces) in the Rabbit month.
Is a Pisces born in 2026 a Fire Horse?
Yes. Lunar New Year 2026 was February 17 and Pisces season began the next day, so every 2026 Pisces is a Fire Horse.
Can a Pisces belong to the previous Chinese year?
Rarely. It happens only when Lunar New Year falls after the Sun has entered Pisces. In the 120 years from 1924 to 2043 that happened in just a couple of years, listed on this page.
What is a Pisces Fire Horse like?
Tradition pairs a dreamy water sign with a bold fire-year animal: imagination with momentum, and escapism as the shadow. It is a lens for reflection, not a forecast.
