What a total solar eclipse means for a wedding calendar
A solar eclipse happens when a new moon falls close enough to the lunar nodes for the Moon to cover the Sun from somewhere on Earth. On August 2, 2027 it covers it completely along a narrow path; NASA's eclipse site has the maps and timings.
The electional tradition treats eclipses as strong, disruptive lunations, a time to watch rather than to begin. That is the whole reason for the buffer. It is not a claim that marriages begun near an eclipse fail, and nobody has shown that they do.
