The Gate of Hades
After the 1st house asks who you are, the 2nd house asks what you've got to work with. In the old texts this place is about livelihood and resources: money, food, the things you keep, the support you can lean on.
The Hellenistic name for it is odd. It was called the Gate of Hades, because it rises just after the Ascendant and sits below the horizon in the diagram of the chart. Don't let that spook you. In practice it is the most practical house of the twelve. Think bank app, not underworld.
