The Hermit stands alone on a snowy peak, holding up a lantern with a six-pointed star inside it. He isn't hiding from the world. He is looking carefully, step by step, so he can come back down and show someone else the path. That's Virgo at its best: careful attention that becomes service.

Book T calls The Hermit "The Magus of the Voice of Power, the Prophet of the Eternal" and gives it the Hebrew letter Yod. Its number, IX, never moved: Marseille, Waite-Smith and Thoth all agree on it.

What The Hermit shows, and what it asks a Virgo

The Knight of Pentacles ("The Lord of the Wide and Fertile Land", 20° Leo to 20° Virgo, Sun Aug 12 to Sep 12, 2026) holds Virgo's first twenty degrees; the Queen of Swords ("The Queen of the Thrones of Air", 20° Virgo to 20° Libra, Sun Sep 12 to Oct 13, 2026) has the last ten.
The Knight of Pentacles, Book T's "Lord of the Wide and Fertile Land," carries most of Virgo. He is the slowest knight and the most reliable, the person who shows up on time with the right tools and stays until the job is done.
