Your zodiac sign has a tarot card. Actually, it has six.
One Major Arcana card for the sign, three minor cards for its ten-degree slices, two court cards for its spans. Here is the whole Golden Dawn map, with this year's dates worked out from the Sun's real path.

In the Golden Dawn system behind most modern decks, Aries is The Emperor, Taurus is The Hierophant, Gemini is The Lovers, Cancer is The Chariot, Leo is Strength, Virgo is The Hermit, Libra is Justice, Scorpio is Death, Sagittarius is Temperance, Capricorn is The Devil, Aquarius is The Star, Pisces is The Moon. On Oct 26, 2026 the Sun is in Scorpio, so the card of the day is Death with the 5 of Cups.

Why signs have cards
Tarot and astrology were wired together on purpose

Try this today
- Pull your sign's Major out of your deck and keep it face up on your desk for a week. Notice when it feels like you and when it doesn't.
- Use the finder below with your birthday, then check your Moon and rising sign cards too. Most people relate to one of the three far more than the others.
Tarot cards started as a card game in fifteenth-century Italy. Nobody printed zodiac signs on them. The link you see on every "tarot card for your sign" list comes from one London group, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, founded in 1888.
The Golden Dawn matched the 22 Major Arcana to the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet, then used the old Kabbalistic Sefer Yetzirah, which splits those letters into 12 "simple" letters (the signs), 7 "double" letters (the classical planets) and 3 "mother" letters (the elements). Twelve plus seven plus three is twenty-two. Every Major got a sign, a planet or an element.
The order wrote it all down in a members-only manuscript called Book T. Two members, the writer A. E. Waite and the artist Pamela Colman Smith, then made the 1909 Waite-Smith deck (often called Rider-Waite), and Aleister Crowley, who also passed through the order, built the Thoth deck on the same map. So when you hear "Scorpio is the Death card", that is Book T talking.
This is a tradition, not a law of nature. Older French and Italian tarot readers used other systems, and some modern readers do too. But the Golden Dawn version is the one almost every modern deck and guide follows, so it is the one we map here, straight from the source.
The sky behind it
Book T counts signs in the tropical zodiac, so the cards follow the Sun's position against the equinox, not the constellations. Every date on this page is the moment the Sun reaches a 10° mark, computed from NASA JPL's DE442 ephemeris (78 marks matched content/zodiac/sun-ingress-1950-2030.json, worst delta 0.5 min).
The twelve Majors
The zodiac card for every sign, as Pamela Colman Smith drew it

Here are the twelve, in the order the Sun meets them after the March equinox. Each sign's own page has the full story, its decan cards and this year's dates.
Aries: IV The Emperor. A crowned ruler on a stone throne carved with rams' heads, an ankh-topped sceptre in one hand and an orb in the other, bare red mountains behind him.
Taurus: V The Hierophant. A priest in a triple crown seated between two grey pillars, one hand raised in blessing, two crossed keys at his feet and two tonsured ministers kneeling before him.
Gemini: VI The Lovers. A man and a woman standing apart under a great winged angel and a blazing sun, a fruit tree with a serpent behind her and a tree of flames behind him, a single mountain between them.
Cancer: VII The Chariot. An armoured driver under a starry canopy, crescent moons on his shoulders, in a stone chariot drawn by two sphinxes, one black and one white, with no reins at all.
Leo: VIII Strength. A woman in white, a garland of flowers at her waist and the infinity sign over her head, gently closing the jaws of a red lion.
Virgo: IX The Hermit. A grey-bearded figure on a snowy peak, hooded and cloaked, holding up a lantern with a six-pointed star inside it and leaning on a tall staff.
Libra: XI Justice. A crowned figure in red seated between two pillars, an upright double-edged sword in the right hand and level scales in the left.
Scorpio: XIII Death. A skeleton in black armour on a white horse, carrying a black banner marked with a white rose; a king lies fallen, a bishop pleads, and a sun rises between two distant towers.
Sagittarius: XIV Temperance. A winged angel with one foot on land and one in a pool, pouring water from one cup into another, a path behind leading up between two peaks toward a crown of light.
Capricorn: XV The Devil. A horned, bat-winged figure crouched on a black pedestal under an inverted pentagram, with a man and a woman chained loosely to it, the collars wide enough to lift off.
Aquarius: XVII The Star. A kneeling figure pouring water from two jugs, one into a pool and one onto the land, under one great eight-pointed star and seven smaller ones, a bird perched in a tree behind.
Pisces: XVIII The Moon. A moon with a face between two towers, a dog and a wolf howling up at it, a crayfish crawling out of a pool onto a path that winds away to the hills.

Planet cards and element cards: the Majors behind your sign

Try this today
- Find your sign's ruler, then lay its Major next to your sign's Major. Read them as a pair: what you show, and what drives it.
- If your chart has a stellium, pull the Major for that sign as well. It often explains more than your Sun sign does.
The ten Majors that are not zodiac cards still matter, because every sign has a ruling planet, and every planet has a card. Mercury is I The Magician, Moon is II The High Priestess, Venus is III The Empress, Jupiter is X Wheel of Fortune, Mars is XVI The Tower, Sun is XIX The Sun, Saturn (and Earth) is XXI The World. The three elements go to 0 The Fool (Air), XII The Hanged Man (Water), XX Judgement (Fire (and Spirit)).
So an Aries reads The Emperor first, and then XVI The Tower behind it, because Mars rules Aries. A Taurus or Libra gets III The Empress for Venus. Leo is the only sign whose ruler, the Sun, has a card called XIX The Sun, which feels about right.
Book T only knew the seven planets you can see without a telescope. Modern readers often add Uranus to The Fool, Neptune to The Hanged Man and Pluto to Judgement, sitting on the old element cards. That is a 20th-century layer, not part of the Golden Dawn papers, so we list it but don't use it in the finder.
The 36 decan cards
The minor cards: one for every ten degrees

This is the part most "tarot card for your sign" lists skip, and it is the most personal. Book T cuts each sign into three slices of 10°, the decans, and gives each slice one of the numbered minor cards from 2 to 10. Fire signs get Wands, earth signs Pentacles, air signs Swords and water signs Cups.
Cardinal signs take the 2, 3 and 4 of their suit, fixed signs the 5, 6 and 7, mutable signs the 8, 9 and 10. So Aries runs 2, 3, 4 of Wands, and Pisces closes the year on the 9 and 10 of Cups.
Each decan also has a planet, handed out in the old Chaldean order (Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon) starting with Mars at 0° Aries. Thirty-six slices and seven planets do not divide evenly, so Mars comes round one extra time and rules both the first decan (the 2 of Wands) and the last (the 10 of Cups). Mars ends up with 6 decans, every other planet with five.
The Aces stay out of the zodiac. Book T gives them to the four quarters of the sky around the pole, and the Pages (Book T's Princesses) go with them.
The sky behind it
In the 2026 cycle the Sun spends between 9.81 and 10.49 days in a decan. The longest pass is the 3 of Cups (10° to 20° Cancer, Jul 1 to Jul 12, 2026), the shortest the 3 of Pentacles (10° to 20° Capricorn, Dec 31, 2026 to Jan 10, 2027). Earth moves fastest near perihelion in early January, so winter decans are shorter.
The court cards
Queens, Kings and Knights: the cards that straddle two signs

Try this today
- Born in the last ten days of a sign? Your court card belongs half to the next sign. Read both sign pages.
- Pull your court card and ask who in your life it describes. Court cards are often read as people.
Book T gives twelve court cards a 30° span each, but shifted: every span starts at the 20th degree of one sign. The Queen of Wands, for example, rules 20° Pisces to 20° Aries, so the very start of the zodiac year belongs to a Pisces-flavoured queen.
The naming needs one warning. Book T calls its court Knight, Queen, Prince and Princess. In the Waite-Smith deck those became Knight, Queen, King and Page, and most readers today match the Golden Dawn Prince to the Waite-Smith King and the Golden Dawn King (a mounted figure) to the Knight. We use the Waite-Smith names, because that is the deck most people own, and show Book T's own title next to each one.
The pattern repeats: a Queen holds the cardinal signs' start, a King (Prince) the fixed signs', and a Knight the mutable signs'. Queen of Wands (20° Pisces to 20° Aries); King of Pentacles (20° Aries to 20° Taurus); Knight of Swords (20° Taurus to 20° Gemini); Queen of Cups (20° Gemini to 20° Cancer); King of Wands (20° Cancer to 20° Leo); Knight of Pentacles (20° Leo to 20° Virgo); Queen of Swords (20° Virgo to 20° Libra); King of Cups (20° Libra to 20° Scorpio); Knight of Wands (20° Scorpio to 20° Sagittarius); Queen of Pentacles (20° Sagittarius to 20° Capricorn); King of Swords (20° Capricorn to 20° Aquarius); Knight of Cups (20° Aquarius to 20° Pisces).

Birth cards
"What is my birth tarot card?" There are two answers
The zodiac card comes from the sky. The birth card most people mean comes from arithmetic: Mary K. Greer's method in Tarot for Your Self (1984). Add your birth month, day and full year, then add the digits until you reach 22 or less. For a birthday of 8 November 1995: 11 + 8 + 1995 = 2014, which reduces to VII The Chariot.

The two systems often disagree, and that is fine. They answer different questions. The finder below gives you both. The same arithmetic on the year alone gives the year card: 2026 adds to 10, X Wheel of Fortune, and 2027 adds to 11, XI Justice.
Deck differences
Why Strength is VIII in one deck and XI in another
In older Marseille-pattern decks, Justice is VIII and Strength is XI. The Golden Dawn swapped them so that the Leo card (Strength) comes before the Libra card (Justice), keeping the zodiac Majors in order, and the 1909 Waite-Smith deck printed the new numbers. The Thoth deck kept the attributions but renamed Strength Lust and Justice Adjustment, and put them back at XI and VIII. Same signs, different labels, so check which deck you are holding.

Quick answers
What tarot card is my zodiac sign?
In the Golden Dawn system used by the Waite-Smith and Thoth decks: Aries, IV The Emperor; Taurus, V The Hierophant; Gemini, VI The Lovers; Cancer, VII The Chariot; Leo, VIII Strength; Virgo, IX The Hermit; Libra, XI Justice; Scorpio, XIII Death; Sagittarius, XIV Temperance; Capricorn, XV The Devil; Aquarius, XVII The Star; Pisces, XVIII The Moon.
What is my birth tarot card?
There are two kinds. Your zodiac card comes from where the Sun was when you were born (use the finder for your exact decan card). Your numerology birth card comes from Mary K. Greer's method: add your birth month, day and full year, then add the digits until the total is 22 or less. For 8 November 1995 that gives VII The Chariot.
What tarot card is Scorpio?
Scorpio is XIII Death, read as transformation and endings that clear space, not literal death. Its decan cards are the 5, 6 and 7 of Cups, and its court cards are the King of Cups and the Knight of Wands.
Do I use my sun sign, moon sign or rising sign for tarot?
Most people start with the Sun sign, and that is what Book T's decans track through the year. Many readers also look at the Moon and rising sign cards for the inner life and first impressions. Any placement in a sign takes that sign's card.
What tarot card represents 2027?
Adding the digits of the year gives the collective year card: 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 11, XI Justice in Waite-Smith numbering. 2026 adds to 10, X Wheel of Fortune. Your personal year card adds your birth month and day to the current year instead.
What are the decan tarot cards?
They are the 36 numbered minor cards from 2 to 10 in each suit, one for each 10° slice of the zodiac. Book T gives each a planet in the Chaldean order starting with Mars at 0° Aries. The Aces and Pages are not given zodiac degrees.
Why is Strength VIII and Justice XI?
The Golden Dawn swapped the older Marseille numbering so that Strength (Leo) comes before Justice (Libra), keeping the zodiac cards in order. The 1909 Waite-Smith deck printed it that way. Marseille-pattern decks and the Thoth deck keep Strength (Lust) at XI and Justice (Adjustment) at VIII.
Can tarot cards predict my future?
We treat tarot and astrology as traditions for reflection, not as predictions. A card is a prompt for thinking about where you are and what you want, and it is never a substitute for medical, legal or financial advice.
