Gemini has seventeen tabs open, three half-finished playlists and a group chat for every version of their personality. They contain multitudes, as the saying goes, and they are not sorry about it.
Book T gives Gemini to VI The Lovers, "The Children of the Voice; the Oracles of the Mighty Gods," with the Hebrew letter Zayin, which means sword or weapon. That last detail tells you a lot. The Lovers is not only a romance card. Older decks often show a young man standing between two women, having to choose, and the Golden Dawn read it as the card of discernment: cutting between two options.
That is the Gemini story in one picture. Two sides, two voices, two paths, and the lifelong job of deciding which one you mean today. When Waite designed his version with an angel over a man and a woman, the Wikipedia history notes he drew on Italian decks with the same pair-and-angel layout to strengthen the Gemini link.
The sky behind it
Book T calls The Lovers "The Children of the Voice; the Oracles of the Mighty Gods" and gives it the Hebrew letter Zayin. Its number, VI, never moved: Marseille, Waite-Smith and Thoth all agree on it.

What The Lovers shows, and what it asks a Gemini
A man and a woman standing apart under a great winged angel and a blazing sun, a fruit tree with a serpent behind her and a tree of flames behind him, a single mountain between them.
For a Gemini, The Lovers asks a sharper question than "who do you love?" It asks: what are you choosing, and are you choosing it with your whole self? The woman looks up toward the angel, the man looks at the woman. Each is paying attention to a different thing.
In a reading it can point to a relationship, a partnership or a values decision. For an air sign, the card often shows up when talk has gone on long enough and something actually has to be picked.

Gemini is the mutable air sign, so its decans are the last three Swords: the 8, 9 and 10. They have a heavy reputation. In Book T they are Shortened Force, Despair and Cruelty, and Ruin.

A blindfolded woman stands bound inside a ring of eight swords stuck in wet ground, a castle far behind. Jupiter's decan names the feeling of being stuck by your own thinking. The bindings are loose and the swords don't fully surround her. For a Gemini, the way out is usually a different question, not a better argument.

A figure lies face down with ten swords in their back, but on the horizon the sky is turning gold. The Sun's decan ends the sign with Ruin, and also with dawn. This is the card of a story that is completely over, which is often a relief. Nothing more can go wrong with it.

The Knight of Swords ("The Lord of the Winds and the Breezes", 20° Taurus to 20° Gemini, Sun May 10 to Jun 10, 2026) holds Gemini's first twenty degrees; the Queen of Cups ("The Queen of the Thrones of the Waters", 20° Gemini to 20° Cancer, Sun Jun 10 to Jul 12, 2026) has the last ten.
The Knight of Swords, Book T's "Lord of the Winds and the Breezes," rides through most of Gemini. He is fast, articulate and slightly reckless, the friend who replies before you have finished typing.
At 20° Gemini the Queen of Cups takes over, the first water court of the cycle and a gentle lead-in to Cancer season. The talk slows down and starts asking how everyone feels.
