The dates
Three crossings, one long stay

Try this today
- Write down where you were in spring 2025. Astrologers often read a first visit as the trailer for themes that settle in later.
- Use the finder below to see when Neptune reaches the degree of your Ascendant, Sun or Moon.
Neptune is slow. It drifts about two degrees a year, so a sign change is the kind of thing that happens a few times in a life, not a few times a year.
It first reached 0° Aries on March 30, 2025. That summer it turned retrograde and slid back over the line into Pisces on October 22, 2025. Then it came forward again and crossed for good on January 26, 2026 · 17:34 UTC.
From there it walks the whole sign. It reaches the middle, 15° Aries, on May 31, 2031. It first touches Taurus on May 22, 2038, backs into Aries one last time on October 21, 2038, and leaves on March 23, 2039.
So if someone says "Neptune in Aries 2025" and someone else says "2026", they are both right. The 2025 visit was the preview. The 2026 entry is the season.

Try this today
- Pick one idea you have carried for years. Give it one practical step this month: a price, a date, a draft.
- Notice one rule you follow that is really an old hope. Ask if it still fits.
On February 20, 2026 · 16:53 UTC, Saturn caught up with Neptune and the two sat at the same point: 0°45′ Aries. Saturn had only just arrived in Aries itself, so both planets opened their Aries chapters side by side.
This pairing is rare. Saturn and Neptune meet roughly every 36 years. The last time was 3 exact hits in Capricorn in 1989 (Mar 3, 1989, Jun 24, 1989, Nov 13, 1989). The last time they met in Aries was March 28, 1703, at 11°44′ Aries.
Astrologers read Saturn as structure, rules and the reality check, and Neptune as dreams, ideals and the fog. When they meet, the tradition says the two argue it out: a dream gets a shape, or a structure that was built on wishful thinking starts to wobble. Meeting at the very start of Aries gives the story a "first page" feel.
Try to treat that as a question for your own life, not a headline about the world. Which dream is ready for a budget, a calendar and a first step?

What astrologers read into Neptune in Aries

Try this today
- Finish the sentence: 'If I were braver, I would...' Keep the answer somewhere visible.
- Before joining a cause or a trend, ask: who benefits if I believe this?
Neptune has been in Pisces, the sign it is said to rule, since 2012 (after a first visit in 2011). That stretch is usually read as soft, porous and dreamy: boundaries melting, feelings everywhere.
Aries is a different room. It is the first sign, ruled by Mars in the tradition, the sign of the spark and the self. When the planet of ideals moves into the sign of action, astrologers describe it as ideals that want a body. Causes, crusades, "main character" energy, a personal sense of mission.
There is a foggy side too. Neptune can blur, so in Aries it is read as a time when it is easy to romanticise conflict, follow a charismatic leader, or mistake impulse for calling. The useful version is simple: act on what you believe, then check that it is really yours.
None of this predicts events. It is a way of asking better questions for the next thirteen years.
The last time
Neptune in Aries, 1862 to 1875

Neptune first entered Aries on April 13, 1861, backed out, and crossed for good on February 14, 1862. It first reached Taurus on June 8, 1874 and left Aries for good on April 7, 1875.
That was Neptune's first trip through Aries since its discovery. Johann Galle saw it from Berlin in September 1846, at the position Urbain Le Verrier had predicted from the pull on Uranus.
The years themselves are well documented. The American Civil War began at Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861, one day before Neptune's first ingress. Russia's emancipation of the serfs was proclaimed in 1861. The International Committee of the Red Cross was founded in Geneva in 1863, and the first Geneva Convention, on care for wounded soldiers, was signed in 1864.
Astrologers like to point at that mix of war and humanitarian ideals as a picture of Neptune in Aries. That is pattern-reading after the fact, not proof, and history has many causes. It is still a striking set of years to sit with.
The sky behind it
Historic ingresses computed with DE442 the same way as the modern ones. Neptune's return to the same sign: 163.9 years between the 1862 and 2026 entries.
Every summer
Neptune backs up for five months a year

Try this today
- Mark early July each year as a check-in on whatever started for you in January and February.
Every year from early July to mid December, Neptune appears to move backwards from Earth. It is an optical effect of Earth overtaking it, and it means Neptune covers each stretch of Aries up to three times.
In 2026 it stations retrograde on July 7, 2026 at 4°25′ Aries and turns direct on December 12, 2026 at 1°37′ Aries. The pattern repeats, each loop sitting about two degrees further along, until the last direct station in Aries on January 8, 2039 at 28°34′ Aries.
That is why the finder below often shows three dates for one degree. In tradition the retrograde months are read as review time: a chance to look again at whatever the forward pass stirred up.
