The full moon
A full moon with a sweet name and a serious sign
It is late April. The trees in the north are in full blossom, everyone is posting the same cherry tree, and the full moon has the cutest name of the year: the Pink Moon.
Astrologically it is anything but cute. The Moon is in the very first degree of Scorpio, the sign of depth, intimacy and transformation, while the Sun sits right at the start of Taurus, the sign of comfort, money, food and the body. Taurus-Scorpio full moons are traditionally about what you own versus what owns you: possessions, money, attachments, desire.
When we checked the major aspects at the exact moment, no planet tightly aspects this full moon. It stands alone in the sky. Astrologers read an unaspected lunation as a pure expression of its signs, without much extra noise. So the question is simple and big: what are you holding onto?
The Moon is also at the cusp, under a degree into Scorpio. Some astrologers say a lunation that close to a sign change carries the flavor of both signs. You might feel the pull of Libra's harmony and Scorpio's intensity at once.

Scorpio full moon: let go of one thing
Try this today
- Write the thing you are holding onto on paper, then tear it up.
- Delete one app, one contact or one thread that only makes you anxious.
- Spend time in the bath or near water and actually rest.
In traditional astrology the Moon is said to be in its fall in Scorpio, a placement where it is uncomfortable. Emotions run deep, private and a little suspicious. That is not bad. It is just honest.
Venus has just entered Aries and Mercury is in Aries too, so conversations around this full moon can be direct, even blunt. Astrologers would say: speak, but do not prosecute.
If there is a grudge, a secret or a fear you have been carrying since the November Scorpio new moon, this full moon is the traditional end point for that cycle. Six months of thinking. One night of letting go.

The name
Why it is called the Pink Moon
The Farmers' Almanac and NASA call April's full moon the Pink Moon. The Almanac ties the name to the early spring blooms of creeping phlox, also called moss pink, a wildflower native to eastern North America. The Moon itself looks its usual silvery white, unless it is low on the horizon, where any Moon can look orange or pink.
The Almanac also lists names such as the Egg Moon and the Fish Moon. As with the others, the names come from many sources and vary widely among nations.
In the Southern Hemisphere, late April is mid-autumn. No phlox, but often beautiful autumn color.

The end of a six-month cycle
Astrologers often pair a full moon with the new moon in the same sign about six months earlier. The November 2026 new moon was in Scorpio too. If you set an intention then, this is the full moon that traditionally brings it full circle.
