Count from your rising sign. The 5 Leo and Aquarius eclipses of 2026-2027 fall in the two houses that hold Leo and Aquarius in your chart; the Virgo-Pisces eclipses (3) close an older chapter, and one Capricorn eclipse opens the next.

How it works
Your rising sign is the key

Try this today
- Write your rising sign at the top of a page, then the eleven signs after it, numbered 1 to 12. That is your house map.
- Circle Leo and Aquarius. Those two houses are your eclipse story for 2026-2027.
- Read those two house pages below, and note one area of life each one touches.
Ask an astrologer "what does this eclipse mean for me?" and the first thing they check is not your Sun sign. It is your rising sign, because that sets your houses: the twelve slices of the chart that stand for parts of life, from money to marriage to rest.
The simplest method is whole-sign houses, the oldest house system in Western astrology. Your rising sign is your whole 1st house, the next sign is your 2nd, and so on around the wheel. An eclipse in Leo lands in whichever house holds Leo for you.
Here is a worked example. With Aries rising, the 9 eclipses of 2026-2027 fall like this: Feb 17, 2026 Aquarius (11th), Mar 3, 2026 Virgo (6th), Aug 12, 2026 Leo (5th), Aug 28, 2026 Pisces (12th), Feb 6, 2027 Aquarius (11th), Feb 20, 2027 Virgo (6th), Jul 18, 2027 Capricorn (10th), Aug 2, 2027 Leo (5th) and Aug 17, 2027 Aquarius (11th). Two houses do most of the work, the 5th and the 11th. That pattern, two opposite houses at a time, is how eclipses always arrive: in pairs of opposite signs, for about a year and a half each.
Know your rising sign? Tap it in the finder below. Don't know it? You need your birth time; the rising sign calculator takes about a minute.
The sky behind it
Eclipse moments and degrees computed with Skyfield and the JPL DE442 ephemeris: geocentric apparent ecliptic longitude, tropical zodiac, UTC. Lunar eclipses from Skyfield's eclipse finder; solar eclipses from the new moon where the Moon's shadow axis passes nearest Earth's centre. Houses are whole-sign houses counted from your rising sign. Times agree with the NASA GSFC catalogue to about a minute (NASA lists Terrestrial Time, about 69 seconds ahead of UTC). Node positions use the mean lunar node (Meeus, eq. 47.7).
The main axis
Leo and Aquarius: the eclipses of 2026-2027

Try this today
- Find your Leo house and your Aquarius house. Write one sentence on what you want from each by the end of 2027.
- Mark the total solar eclipse date in your calendar, then the lunar eclipse six months later. Those are your check-ins.
The August 2, 2027 total solar eclipseNorth Node in Aquarius 2026
Most of this window belongs to one pair of signs. The eclipses in Leo and Aquarius are: February 17, 2026 (annular solar, 28°50′ Aquarius), August 12, 2026 (total solar, 20°02′ Leo), February 6, 2027 (annular solar, 17°38′ Aquarius), August 2, 2027 (total solar, 9°55′ Leo) and August 17, 2027 (penumbral lunar, 24°04′ Aquarius).
The themes astrologers give this axis are self-expression and belonging: Leo's heart, creativity and courage on one side, Aquarius's friends, causes and future on the other. In your chart those themes take the shape of whichever houses hold the two signs.
The headline event is the total solar eclipse of August 2, 2027, at 9°55′ Leo. For whoever has Leo in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house (Leo, Taurus, Aquarius or Scorpio rising), that one lands on a chart angle, which tradition treats as the loudest kind of eclipse.
The closing chapter
Virgo and Pisces: the last of an older cycle

Try this today
- Look back at what changed in your Virgo and Pisces houses since 2024, and write down what you learned.
- Finish one thing in either house before the Leo-Aquarius season takes over.
The eclipses on the Virgo-Pisces line are winding down. The ones in this window: March 3, 2026 (total lunar, 12°52′ Virgo), August 28, 2026 (partial lunar, 4°51′ Pisces) and February 20, 2027 (penumbral lunar, 1°59′ Virgo).
If you have had a long story in your Virgo and Pisces houses since 2024 or so, these are the closing scenes. Astrologers often describe the final eclipses on an axis as tying off: decisions settle, routines that were in flux find a shape, and the questions that felt urgent start to feel answered.
There is nothing to fear here. Endings at the edge of an eclipse cycle are usually gentle compared with the starts.
The next chapter
Capricorn and Cancer: a preview

In 2027 the first eclipse of the next axis arrives: the penumbral lunar eclipse of July 18, 2027, with the Moon at 25°58′ Capricorn. It is followed by January 12, 2028, a partial lunar eclipse at 21°34′ Cancer. The mean North Node itself moves into Capricorn on about March 7, 2028.
Cancer and Capricorn are the home and career axis of the zodiac: family and roots against ambition and public role. If you want a head start, find which of your houses hold those two signs. That is where the eclipses of 2028 and 2029 will work.

Solar vs lunar
Solar or lunar, what is the difference?
A solar eclipse is a new moon: the Sun and Moon sit together in one sign, so one house gets a beginning. A lunar eclipse is a full moon: the Moon sits opposite the Sun, so a lunar eclipse lights two houses at once, read in the house of the Moon's sign. Tradition reads solar eclipses as starts and lunar eclipses as culminations.

Quick answers
Which house is the eclipse in for me?
Find your rising sign, then count signs forward: your rising sign is the 1st house, the next sign the 2nd, and so on. The eclipse is in the house that holds its sign. The finder on this page does it for you.
What does an eclipse in my 7th house mean?
The 7th house covers partners, marriage and contracts, so an eclipse there is read as a relationship turning point. In 2026-2027 that applies to rising signs whose 7th house holds Leo, Aquarius, Virgo, Pisces or Capricorn; see the 7th house page for dates.
What does a lunar eclipse in my 10th house mean?
It is read as a culmination in career and reputation, with the Sun opposite in your 4th house of home. See the 10th house page for which rising signs get one in 2026-2027.
Do I use my Sun sign or rising sign for eclipse houses?
Rising sign gives your actual houses. Using your Sun sign as if it were rising (solar houses) is a common shortcut in horoscope columns and is worth reading too, but it is a different method.
When is the next eclipse in 2027?
The next eclipse after October 18, 2026 is the annular solar eclipse of February 6, 2027 · 16:00 UTC, at 17°38′ Aquarius.
How many eclipses are there in 2026 and 2027?
4 in 2026 and 5 in 2027, computed from the JPL DE442 ephemeris and checked against the NASA eclipse catalogue.
Does the house system change my eclipse house?
It can. Whole-sign houses, used here, put a whole sign in each house. Quadrant systems like Placidus cut houses at exact degrees, so an eclipse late or early in a sign may fall in the neighbouring house. The eclipse impact calculator lets you check with your birth time.
