What astrologers actually look at when you ask "when"
Try this today
- Find your rising sign first. Count six signs on and you have your Descendant sign: Aries rising has Libra on the 7th, Leo rising has Aquarius.
- Write down your Venus sign. It's in any free birth chart, and the calculator shows it too.
You've done the quiz. You've scrolled the "your soulmate's initial" videos. Now you want an answer that is at least built on something real. Fair.
Here is the honest version. Astrology has no soulmate planet and no way to name a person. What it has is a timing tradition: certain planets crossing certain parts of your birth chart are read as seasons when love is more likely to show up, or when you are more open to it.
The parts of the chart that matter:
- The 7th house and the Descendant. Your Descendant is the point directly opposite your rising sign, setting on the western horizon at the minute you were born. The 7th house starts there and is the classic house of committed partners (House (astrology)).
- The 5th house. Romance, dating, crushes, the fun part. Less "forever," more "I can't stop smiling at my phone."
- Your natal Venus. What you value and how you love. Planets touching it tend to show up in your love life.
And the two planets doing the moving:
- Jupiter, the planet astrologers link with growth and opportunity, takes about 12 years to go round the zodiac (NASA), so it spends roughly a year in each sign. When it crosses your 7th house, that is the big, slow window.
- Venus circles the zodiac in about a year and spends a few weeks in each sign. Its windows are short and sweet.

There's a pause in the middle. Jupiter stations retrograde at 27°01′ Leo on Dec 13, 2026 and turns direct at 17°00′ Leo on Apr 13, 2027. Astrologers read Jupiter retrograde as a time when growth turns inward, a good few months for figuring out what you actually want before Jupiter speeds up again.
Who feels it most, using whole-sign houses:
- Aquarius rising: Leo is your 7th house. This is your Jupiter-in-the-7th season right now, through Jul 26, 2027.
- Pisces rising: Virgo is your 7th house, so your window opens on Jul 26, 2027 and runs into 2028.
- Aries and Taurus rising: Jupiter crosses your 5th house of romance, Leo first, then Virgo. Expect the dating-app-era version: flirtier, lighter, more fun.

Right now Venus is retrograde. It turned backward at 8°29′ Scorpio on Oct 3, 2026 and stations direct at 22°52′ Libra on Nov 14, 2026, 42 days later. Retrograde Venus happens about every 19 months, and astrologers read it as a review period: old flames, second chances, the "wait, why did we stop talking?" energy.
So if someone from your past slides back in this autumn, you're right on theme. Whether to reply is up to you.
After that, 2027 is a clean year for Venus. It does not turn retrograde at all in 2027, and it moves through all twelve signs. A few dates worth circling:

- Venus in Leo, Jul 27, 2027 to Aug 20, 2027. Leo is the zodiac's 5th sign, the natural home of romance and being adored a little.
Your personal Venus windows depend on your houses. Venus crossing your 7th house, your 5th house or your exact Descendant is the short, sweet version of the Jupiter window. Once a year Venus also comes back to the exact spot it held when you were born, your Venus return, which astrologers read as a reset for your love life.

Here's the part the quizzes skip. A good window doesn't make someone appear at your door. In the timing tradition, transits describe the weather. You still decide whether to go outside.
So when your calculator lights up, treat it like a nudge:
- Be findable. Say yes to the dinner, the wedding, the friend-of-a-friend's birthday. Jupiter in the 7th is not going to swipe for you.
- Get clear first. Jupiter retrograde and Venus retrograde are both read as "review" periods. Use them to write down what you want, and what's a hard no.
- Notice patterns, not signs. If you keep dating the same red flag in different outfits, that's worth more attention than any transit.
And if no window shows up for months? That's fine. You can meet someone in any month of any year, no window required. Astrology is a mirror for reflection, not a rulebook for your heart.
