Venus is the planet of beauty, pleasure and attraction in every astrology book you will open. It rules two signs, Taurus and Libra, so the race at the top was always going to be between them.
Taurus pulls ahead because Venus is not the only thing in its corner. The Moon is exalted in Taurus, a traditional dignity that links the sign with comfort and softness. And as an earth sign, Taurus is described as the sensual one: touch, taste, scent, the pleasures of the body. Add those to Venus and you get the classic Taurus description, calm, grounded, quietly gorgeous and very hard to stop looking at.
