Stellium in Aries: the cluster that starts things

A stellium in Aries is three or more planets in the cardinal fire sign ruled by Mars. It builds the chart around starting, competing and acting before doubt arrives. Of 60,000 computed charts, 3.56% have one, and none of those contains Uranus, Neptune or Pluto. Counting only the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars, the rate is still 2.53%.

Find out if you have a stellium in Aries

What an Aries stellium concentrates: the first move

Three out of four Aries stelliums contain the Sun (77.2%), the highest Sun share of any sign in the sample, and more than a quarter of them (26.3%) are one exact trio: the Sun, Mercury and Venus. No other sign's commonest cluster takes a bigger slice of its total. In plain terms, an Aries stellium is usually a birthday. The Sun is in Aries from 20 or 21 March to 19 or 20 April (UTC), and the two inner planets travel close beside it, so a spring birth is most of the recipe.

Aries opens the zodiac at the March equinox, and both of its labels point the same way. Cardinal signs begin seasons; fire signs act on conviction rather than on evidence. Put three planets there and the chart is organised around the first move. This is the friend who books the flights while everyone else is still comparing dates, and the employee who has a prototype on the table by Thursday when the brief only asked for ideas. Launching is easy. Week six of anything is where the trouble starts.

The stereotype is temper, and it misreads the sign. A cluster in Aries is better described as a low tolerance for waiting. It shows up as the reply sent four minutes after the email arrived and the apology that comes quickly because the grudge never had time to form. Anger is one outlet for that speed. Courage is the commoner one: the person who rings the landlord or raises the problem in the meeting.

Mars disposits the Aries cluster, but is rarely part of it

Mars rules Aries, yet it sits inside only 26.8% of Aries stelliums. Mercury is in 81.1% and Venus in 62.9%. So the ruler is usually somewhere else in the chart, and it still manages the cluster from there. With Mars in Virgo the urge to start things turns into an urge to fix how they are done. With Mars in Gemini it comes out as argument and fast talk. Find Mars's sign and house first; that is where the cluster's impatience is being spent.

The commonest set carries a contradiction built into the dignities. The Sun is exalted in Aries, the traditional rule's mark of a planet that is honoured and confident there. Venus, beside it, is in detriment, because Aries is the sign opposite Venus's own Libra. A chart with both has a strong sense of self and a hurried way of loving. That can look like asking someone out on the second meeting, or losing interest once the pursuit is over. Detriment does not mean unloved. It means Venus works by going after what it wants instead of waiting to be chosen, which is how Mars would do it.

Saturn is the other dignity worth knowing, and it is in fall in Aries. It turns up in 23.6% of Aries stelliums, and only in charts born while Saturn was actually crossing the sign. Saturn in fall is patience under strain: the brake fitted to a vehicle built to accelerate. Across the zodiac sits Libra, the sign of the other person, so an Aries cluster's long argument is between going alone and waiting for agreement.

Aries stellium examples, including one born in only three springs

Imagine the commonest version first: the Sun, Mercury and Venus in Aries. This person starts five projects a year and talks a small crowd into the first week of each. The half-marathon is booked in January, a friend is recruited to a podcast by February, and by May both have quietly gone. Venus in Aries makes the pitch warm, and Mercury makes it quick. What it lacks is a plan for the quarter after the launch.

The tradition's favourite Aries test case is discipline at war with impulse, and it is usually written as Mars, Saturn and Jupiter together. That cluster cannot be found in this sample. Mars, Jupiter and Saturn last shared Aries from 4 January to 17 February 1940, before the birth range, and Jupiter and Saturn alone overlapped there only from 13 February to 1 March 1999. So take a chart with the Sun, Mars and Saturn instead, which did happen, in three short windows: 20 to 27 March 1968, 7 to 19 April 1996 and 20 March to 13 April 1998. Mars is at home and pushes, Saturn is in fall and brakes, and the exalted Sun has to referee. This is the runner who trains with a spreadsheet and still gets injured going out too fast. People born in 1996 and 1998 are meeting their first Saturn return as Saturn crosses Aries again in 2025–2028.

A made-up third case: the Moon, Mercury and Mars. Here the cluster speaks first and apologises second. Feelings (the Moon) and words (Mercury) both run at Mars's pace, so the reply in a family argument is out before the person has decided whether they mean it, and the apology follows within the hour. Because the Moon changes sign every two or three days, this version can only be confirmed with a birth time.

Is an Aries stellium generational? Not once from 1950 to 2010

The decade row above has two high points, the 1960s at 4.5% and the 1990s at 4.5%, and both belong to Saturn. Saturn was in Aries from 3 March 1967 to 29 April 1969, and again from 7 April 1996 to 9 June 1998, with a last stretch from 25 October 1998 to 1 March 1999. A spring birth in those years found one slow planet already waiting in the sign. The lowest decade is the 2000s, at 2.6%: Saturn was elsewhere, and Jupiter, which crossed Aries in 1999 and early 2000, did not return until 6 June 2010.

No outer planet appears in any Aries stellium in the sample (0.0%). Uranus, Neptune and Pluto all stayed out of Aries from 1938, where the computed range begins, until Uranus first arrived on 28 May 2010, at the very edge of the birth range. Compare Virgo, where 61.4% of stelliums contain at least one outer planet. For anyone born 1950–2010 an Aries cluster cannot be a cohort signature. The house and the ruler say more about it than the birth year does.

The rule has a clear end date. Uranus spent 12 March 2011 to 15 May 2018 in Aries, and again 6 November 2018 to 6 March 2019, so every Aries Sun born in those years has Uranus beside it, and those born 20 March to 20 April 2011 also have Jupiter there. Those children sit outside the sample. Their Aries clusters can contain an outer planet, and the next section explains why the babies of 2026–2028 go further.

Saturn and Neptune in Aries, 2026 to 2028: the first generational Aries stelliums

Two slow planets are in Aries together now. Neptune entered on 26 January 2026 and stays until 22 May 2038, with a last return from 21 October 2038 to 23 March 2039. Saturn entered on 14 February 2026 and leaves for Taurus on 13 April 2028; the pair also overlapped briefly from 25 May to 1 September 2025. Every child born with the Sun in Aries in 2026 (20 March to 20 April), in 2027 (20 March to 20 April) or in 2028 up to 13 April has the Sun, Saturn and Neptune in Aries. That is three planets in one sign before Mercury or Venus is counted. Births from 9 to 20 April 2026 and from 20 March to 13 April 2028 add Mars, which makes four. For the first time in the period these figures cover, an Aries stellium will mark a cohort.

For people who already have an Aries stellium, Saturn's passage is the transit to watch, and it moves in stages. It stationed retrograde on 26 July 2026 at 14°45′ Aries and turns direct on 10–11 December 2026 at 7°56′, then stations again on 9 August 2027 at 27°53′ and turns direct on 24 December 2027 at 21°01′ (DE442, UTC). A natal planet between about 8° and 15° Aries is crossed three times in 2026–2027, and one between 21° and 28° three times in 2027–2028. In mid-October 2026 Saturn is moving backwards just above 10° Aries, which it recrosses on 21 October. With Saturn in fall, each planet's turn tends to test stamina rather than speed.

Neptune is far slower and sits in the first few degrees: 4°24′ Aries on 15 July 2026, 1°56′ on 15 January 2027 and 6°21′ on 6 June 2027, the dates of its exact sextiles with Uranus. Planets at the very start of Aries are the ones being blurred and softened in this window. One helpful contact runs alongside: Jupiter in Leo trines Saturn on 3 April 2027 at 17°08′ and on 11 July 2027 at 27°10′, the fire signs supporting each other over natal Aries planets near those degrees.

Where an Aries stellium lands: houses by rising sign, and the 7th house

Counting whole signs from the Ascendant, the same Aries cluster changes subject with the rising sign; the table below gives all twelve. With Libra rising, Aries is the 7th house. The cluster faces the self from across the chart: partners who move first, a marriage or business partnership with a fast and competitive tone, and a person who keeps choosing people more decisive than they are. Venus in Aries in the 7th wants the courtship to be a chase.

With Cancer rising, Aries is the 10th, and the starting drive goes into public work. This reads as the founder rather than the manager, a career told as a series of launches, and perhaps three changes of direction before forty. With Pisces rising, Aries falls in the 2nd, the house of income and possessions. Read symbolically, earnings come in bursts tied to things the person started themselves, and spending is as quick as everything else in an Aries cluster.

How rare is an Aries stellium under each counting rule?

Counting all ten bodies, 3.56% of charts have three or more planets in Aries, 0.57% have four or more (the lowest four-planet rate of any sign) and 0.01% have five. The Sun-to-Saturn rule gives exactly the same 3.56%, because there were no outer planets in Aries to leave out. The five personal bodies alone give 2.53%.

The rule changes the ranking, not just the number. Under the all-ten count Aries is the second-rarest sign stellium, ahead only of Taurus at 3.22%. Under the personal-five count only Scorpio (2.95%) and Virgo (2.78%) beat it. The big sign stelliums of Virgo, Libra or Sagittarius are swollen by slow planets that a whole generation shares; Aries has none, so it rises as soon as those planets are taken away. Calling an Aries stellium rare is true under one rule and false under another, and it is worth saying which.

The limits come from how the sample was drawn. Births are spread evenly through 1950–2010, which ignores the uneven spread of real birthdays across the year, and nobody born after 2010 is counted, so the Uranus and Saturn–Neptune Aries clusters described above are missing. An Aries stellium is not the same as an Aries Sun: 22.8% of them leave the Sun out, for example a Pisces or Taurus Sun with Mercury and Venus in Aries.

Common questions

Is an Aries stellium rare?

Fairly. 3.56% of 60,000 computed charts have three or more planets in Aries and 0.57% have four or more, which is the lowest four-planet rate of any sign. Counting only the five personal bodies it is 2.53%, higher than most signs, because an Aries cluster never relied on the slow outer planets.

What does a stellium in Aries mean?

It centres the chart on starting things: acting on conviction, moving first and finding waiting hard. Aries is cardinal fire ruled by Mars, so read Mars's sign and house to see where that drive is spent. The house the cluster falls in, counted from the rising sign, gives its subject.

Why does my Aries stellium include Venus in detriment?

Because Venus stays close to the Sun, and the commonest Aries cluster is the Sun, Mercury and Venus (26.3% of them). Aries is opposite Venus's sign, Libra, so Venus there is in detriment while the Sun beside it is exalted. In practice that pairs a confident self with a hurried, pursuing style of affection.

What does an Aries stellium in the 7th house mean?

That is Libra rising. The cluster sits opposite the Ascendant, so the speed and competitiveness of Aries show up in partners and in one-to-one dealings: a quick courtship, a partner who takes the lead, contracts signed fast. The 7th house stellium page covers the house itself.

Will babies born in 2026 and 2027 have an Aries stellium?

Those born with the Sun in Aries will. Saturn and Neptune are both in Aries from 14 February 2026 to 13 April 2028, so an Aries Sun in that span makes three planets in the sign without any help from Mercury or Venus. Births from 9 to 20 April 2026 have Mars there too.

The sign gives the style; the house it lands in needs your birth time. The calculator finds both.
