Stellium in Gemini: the cluster that keeps two tabs open
A stellium in Gemini is three or more planets in Gemini, the mutable air sign ruled by Mercury. It tilts the chart towards talk, curiosity and doing two things at once. Across 60,000 charts computed for 1950–2010, 3.57% have one, and births in the 2000s lead at 5.9%, when Jupiter and Saturn both passed through Gemini.

How rare a stellium in Gemini is
About 3.6% of charts have three or more planets in Gemini; 0.72% have four or more. Counting only the Sun to Saturn it is 3.6%, and only the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars 2.3%.

Mercury rules a Gemini stellium, and usually sits inside it
Mercury is a member of 73.0% of Gemini stelliums. No other sign's ruler turns up so often in its own sign's clusters: the Sun manages 59.6% in Leo, Venus 48.9% in Taurus, Mars only 26.8% in Aries. A cluster that contains its own ruler is called self-disposited, and the effect is circular. The Gemini planets report to Mercury, Mercury is one of them, and so nothing outside the cluster sets its agenda. In a person this looks like thought that feeds on itself: replaying a conversation on the bus home, or researching the holiday more than taking it.
Mercury is in its domicile here and works easily. Jupiter is the planet that does not. It is in detriment in Gemini, the sign opposite its own Sagittarius, and it appears in 28.0% of Gemini clusters. Jupiter wants one large meaning; Gemini supplies a hundred small facts. The result can be the person who has read twelve articles on a question and holds no settled view, or a teacher who is brilliant on many subjects and suspicious of any single doctrine. Gemini has no traditional exaltation, so no planet gets an honoured seat here. The ruler is the whole hierarchy.
Sagittarius, across the axis, frames the cluster's argument. Gemini collects information and Sagittarius asks what it adds up to, and a Gemini stellium spends years moving between the two: the degree that turns into three degrees, the opinion revised after every podcast.
What a Gemini stellium concentrates: two of everything
Gemini is mutable air. Mutable signs close their seasons, here the end of spring, so they adjust and pass things on rather than begin or hold. Air deals in ideas, words and connections. Three or more planets in that combination make a chart that runs on exchange. It is the person with a day job, a side project and a group chat they moderate, or the sibling who relays news between relatives who no longer speak.
The commonest version is a birthday cluster: the Sun, Mercury and Venus account for 21.5% of Gemini stelliums, and the Sun is in Gemini from 20 or 21 May to 20, 21 or 22 June (UTC). Mercury can never be more than one sign from the Sun, and Venus never more than two, so a Gemini Sun is halfway to a stellium at birth.
Two-faced is the stereotype, and it is wrong. The twins of Gemini are two views held at once, which is a skill: the lawyer who can argue either side, the translator who thinks in both languages. What the cluster can lack is patience with one thing for a long time; depth comes through breadth, if it comes.
Why Gemini stelliums skew young: the 2000s peak
Births in the 2000s have a Gemini stellium at 5.9%, the highest decade figure for any of the three signs that no outer planet visited between 1950 and 2010. The cause is two slow planets in one sign. Jupiter was in Gemini from 30 June 2000 to 13 July 2001. Saturn arrived on 10 August 2000, slipped back into Taurus from 16 October 2000 to 20 April 2001, and then stayed until 4 June 2003. They shared Gemini from 10 August to 16 October 2000 and from 20 April to 13 July 2001, and the second stretch covers the whole of that year's Gemini season. Everyone born with the Sun in Gemini in 2001, from 20 May to 21 June, has the Sun, Jupiter and Saturn there, three planets supplied by the birthday alone.
The personal planets helped too. Counted with only the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars, the 2000s still give Gemini its best decade, 3.2%, because Mars was in Gemini during Gemini season in two of those years: from 20 May to 16 June 2000 and from 21 to 28 May 2002. That week in 2002 also had Saturn there, so Gemini Suns born 21 to 28 May 2002 have the Sun, Mars and Saturn together.
The 1970s, at 4.0%, look similar in the full count but are built differently. Saturn was in Gemini from 18 June 1971 to 1 August 1973, apart from 10 January to 21 February 1972, and again from 7 January to 18 April 1974, and Jupiter came through in 1976–1978. But Mars overlapped Gemini season only once in that decade, for twelve days in 1970, and on the personal-five count the 1970s drop to 1.3%, Gemini's lowest decade. The lowest in the full count is the 1990s, at 2.4%, when neither Jupiter nor Saturn entered Gemini at all. Not one Gemini cluster in the sample holds an outer planet (0.0%); Uranus's previous visit, 15 May 1942 to 30 August 1948 with a last return until 10 June 1949, came just before it.
Uranus in Gemini, 2026 to 2032: three passes over each Gemini stellium
Uranus entered Gemini on 26 April 2026 and stays until 3 August 2032, returning from 12 December 2032 to 22 May 2033, after a trial visit from 7 July to 8 November 2025 (DE442, UTC). It moves about four and a half degrees of the sign a year, and the retrograde loops mean nearly every degree is crossed three times: direct, back, and direct again. The exceptions are 10° and 23° Gemini, which are crossed once, because a station falls just short of each. A Gemini stellium therefore gets the transit as a slow sequence, planet by planet, from its lowest degree to its highest, over six years.
The timing for any one planet comes from its degree. Uranus stationed retrograde on 10 September 2026 at 5°42′ Gemini and turns direct on 8 February 2027 at 1°41′, so a planet between about 2° and 5° Gemini is inside that loop now. A planet at 20° waits until 2 July 2030, with the second and third passes on 2 January and 18 April 2031. In the early degrees, two other contacts overlap with the conjunction: Uranus trines Pluto five times between 18 July 2026 (4°30′) and 10 May 2028 (8°50′), and Jupiter in Virgo squares Uranus once, on 10 September 2027 at 9°57′.
Saturn joins Uranus in Gemini from 1 June 2030 to 14 July 2032. People born with Saturn in Gemini in 2000–2003 meet their first Saturn return in exactly those years, so the 2001 Gemini-Sun cohort, with the Sun, Jupiter and Saturn in the sign, gets a Saturn return and a Uranus conjunction over the same planets at once. New births add a further layer. Babies born from 1 to 21 June 2030 will have the Sun, Mars, Saturn and Uranus in Gemini, four planets fixed by the date alone.
Gemini stellium examples: the talker, the texter and the debater
Here is a hypothetical one built from the commonest set, the Sun, Mercury and Venus. The person can talk to anyone at a wedding, including the uncle nobody else will sit with, and is halfway through five books, of which they will finish two. Venus in Gemini flirts with jokes and keeps attraction alive by keeping the conversation alive, which is why silence in a relationship worries them more than conflict does.
Consider next a chart with Venus, Mars and Saturn in Gemini and no Sun, a set that makes up 5.1% of Gemini stelliums. It needs Mars and Saturn in Gemini together, which in the sample happened from 27 March to 12 May 1972, from 27 February to 18 April 1974 and from 13 April to 28 May 2002, with Venus there as well. For almost all of those days the Sun was in Pisces, Aries or Taurus. This is love conducted by message, carefully. The text is drafted three times before it is sent, the relationship may run across two cities for a year, and Saturn makes the person slow to say the first serious thing even though Mars wants it said.
Last, an invented debater: the Sun, Mercury and Mars (8.8%). This person takes the other side for sport and finds the flaw in the plan halfway through the meeting, aloud. They win the argument and lose the dinner invitation. Mars in Gemini fights with words, and the useful version is the journalist or barrister who is paid for it.
Which house holds a Gemini stellium? Aries, Virgo and Capricorn rising
Count whole signs from the rising sign and the Gemini cluster gets its arena. With Aries rising it is the 3rd house, Gemini's natural house in the traditional pairing of signs and houses, so the emphasis doubles: siblings, neighbours, short trips, writing and the daily traffic of messages. This person knows everyone on the street and has opinions about the bus timetable. With Virgo rising it is the 10th, a career in words or information, such as editor, dispatcher, salesperson or teacher, and Mercury rules both the Ascendant and the cluster, so one planet runs the whole chart.
With Capricorn rising the Gemini planets fall in the 6th, the house of daily work, routines and the habits that bodily health is traditionally read through. In symbol, this is the job made of forty small tasks, the shift worker who learns every role on the rota, and a restlessness that needs variety built into the week. The table below gives the house for every rising sign and links each to its page.
A Gemini stellium for each rising sign
| Rising sign | House | What the house covers | House page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aries rising | 3rd | siblings, neighbours, short trips, learning, daily communication | 3rd house stellium |
| Taurus rising | 2nd | income, possessions, self-worth | 2nd house stellium |
| Gemini rising | 1st | body, self-presentation, how you start things | 1st house stellium |
| Cancer rising | 12th | retreat, hidden work, endings, what is unresolved | 12th house stellium |
| Leo rising | 11th | friends, groups, long-term goals | 11th house stellium |
| Virgo rising | 10th | career, public role, reputation | 10th house stellium |
| Libra rising | 9th | study, travel, publishing, belief | 9th house stellium |
| Scorpio rising | 8th | shared money, debt, intimacy, loss | 8th house stellium |
| Sagittarius rising | 7th | partnership, marriage, contracts, open opponents | 7th house stellium |
| Capricorn rising | 6th | work routines, colleagues, health maintenance | 6th house stellium |
| Aquarius rising | 5th | children, romance, creativity, play | 5th house stellium |
| Pisces rising | 4th | home, family, parents, foundations | 4th house stellium |
Gemini stellium rules: three planets, four, and the 2010 cut-off
All ten bodies counted, 3.57% of charts have three or more planets in Gemini, 0.72% four or more and 0.04% five or more. The four-planet figure is the highest of the three signs that had no outer planet in the sample, helped by the 2001 window. Leaving out Uranus, Neptune and Pluto gives the same 3.57%; the personal five alone give 2.29%.
The opposite sign shows how much the rule can matter. Sagittarius has 10.57% under the all-ten count but 3.72% once the outer planets go, because Uranus and Neptune spent years there inside the birth range. Gemini loses nothing when they are removed. A Gemini stellium from these decades is a statement about one person's planets, not about a generation's.
Three limits apply. The births are spread evenly across 1950–2010 rather than following the real calendar of births. Nobody born after 2010 is counted, so the Uranus-in-Gemini generation of 2026–2032 and the four-planet window of June 2030 are outside the figures. And sign membership is all that is counted: three planets at 1°, 14° and 28° Gemini make a cluster here, though they are too far apart to form a conjunction.
Common questions
What does a stellium in Gemini mean?
It puts the chart's weight on communication, learning and connection, with a habit of running several things at once. Gemini is mutable air ruled by Mercury, and Mercury is part of most Gemini clusters, so the cluster tends to direct itself. The house it falls in, counted from the rising sign, shows where the talking happens.
Is a Gemini stellium rare?
Fairly. 3.57% of 60,000 computed charts have three or more planets in Gemini, roughly one in twenty-eight. The rate jumps to 5.9% for people born in the 2000s, when Jupiter and Saturn were both in Gemini.
What will Uranus in Gemini do to my Gemini stellium?
It conjoins each planet in the cluster in degree order between 2026 and 2032, usually three times per planet. Expect the subject of each planet to be shaken up in turn: a change of job or course of study, a new way of communicating, a move. Saturn joins Uranus in Gemini from June 2030 to July 2032.
What does a Gemini stellium in the 3rd house mean?
That is Aries rising, which puts Gemini in its natural house. Siblings, neighbours, local travel, writing and everyday messages become the main stage, and the cluster's restlessness has plenty to work with. The 3rd house stellium page covers that house in full.
Why do so many people born in 2001 have a Gemini stellium?
Jupiter and Saturn were both in Gemini from 20 April to 13 July 2001, which covers that year's whole Gemini season. Anyone born with the Sun in Gemini that year, 20 May to 21 June, has three planets in the sign before Mercury or Venus is counted.
The sign gives the style; the house it lands in needs your birth time. The calculator finds both.
