Stellium in Virgo: the cluster that edits
A stellium in Virgo is three or more planets in Virgo, the mutable earth sign ruled by Mercury. It puts the chart's weight on method, correction and useful work. In 60,000 computed charts 10.59% have one, narrowly the most of any sign, and 32.6% of 1960s births do, because Uranus and Pluto shared Virgo from 1962 to 1968.

How rare a stellium in Virgo is
About 10.6% of charts have three or more planets in Virgo; 2.55% have four or more. Counting only the Sun to Saturn it is 4.9%, and only the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars 2.8%.

Why a third of 1960s births have a Virgo stellium
No other sign comes close in any decade. 32.6% of 1960s births in the sample have three or more planets in Virgo; the next biggest spike in the study is Capricorn in the 1990s, at 27.1%. Pluto first crossed into Virgo on 20 October 1956, slipped back into Leo twice, then stayed from 10 June 1958 to 5 October 1971, with a last visit from 17 April to 30 July 1972. Uranus arrived for good on 10 August 1962 and left on 28 September 1968. For six years every newborn started with two planets in Virgo.
Place a 1960s chart by birth year. Born between mid-1958 and the summer of 1962: Pluto is in Virgo alone, bar a brief Uranus visit over the 1961–62 winter, so a stellium needs two more planets, usually Mercury with the Sun or Venus, which means a late-August or September birthday. Born between 10 August 1962 and 28 September 1968: Uranus and Pluto are both there and any one more planet completes it, including the Moon on its monthly pass through Virgo. Born from October 1968 to 1971: Pluto is alone again, apart from 20 May to 24 June 1969, when Uranus dipped back.
Mars is the planet that most often makes the third member. Mars + Uranus + Pluto is the commonest set of all, 13.5% of Virgo stelliums, and the reason is a single long stay. An ordinary Mars stay in a sign is a matter of weeks, as from 3 June to 27 July 1963. Between 6 November 1964 and 29 June 1965 it spent almost eight months in Virgo, with Uranus and Pluto there the whole time. Two shorter windows followed, 12 October to 4 December 1966 and the last week of September 1968.
Jupiter + Uranus + Pluto (7.7%) belongs to three stretches: 19 October 1967 to 27 February 1968, 15 June to 28 September 1968, and 20 May to 24 June 1969. Moon + Uranus + Pluto (5.2%) needs only a 1962–68 birth on a Virgo Moon day, so it says the least about the individual.
One detail is unique to Virgo. The share of Virgo stelliums containing Uranus (46.9%) equals the share with two or more outer planets (46.9%), and Neptune appears in none, because Uranus's whole stay in Virgo fell inside Pluto's. A Virgo cluster with Uranus always has Pluto too, and a birth date between November 1961 and June 1969.
Outside the 1960s each decade's rate has a visible cause. The 1950s (8.3%) had Saturn in Virgo until 1951 and Jupiter in 1955–57. The 1970s and 1980s (7.3% and 7.7%) had Pluto until 1971, then Saturn from 1978 to September 1980, joined by Jupiter on 29 September 1979. Mars passed through too, producing the third commonest set, Mars + Jupiter + Saturn (7.3%), born 19 November 1979 to 11 March 1980 or 4 May to 10 July 1980, with no outer planet in it. The 1990s fall to 2.5%, helped only by Jupiter in 1991–92; the 2000s recover to 5.1% with Jupiter in 2003–04 and Saturn from September 2007 to October 2009.
What a stellium in Virgo puts its weight on
Virgo is earth and mutable. Earth wants results that can be checked, a shelf that holds or a report whose figures add up, and mutable signs adjust rather than start or hold. So the Virgo instinct is to take something that exists and make it work better. With three or more planets there, attention keeps landing on the second draft. This is not the person who had the idea for the wedding seating plan. It is the one who noticed two divorced uncles at the same table and moved them before anyone sat down.
This is editing, which is easily mistaken for criticism. A critic wants to be right about what is wrong; an editor wants the thing to work. A Virgo-heavy nurse, accountant, sub-editor or mechanic is valued at work for the very trait that tires people at home, where nobody asked for the dishwasher to be reloaded. Which corrections were invited is the useful question.
Two common readings are wrong. A Virgo stellium does not promise a tidy house: the order it cares about is in the method, the spreadsheet or the timetable, and plenty of Virgo-heavy people live in cheerful mess. Nor does it describe a delicate constitution. Virgo's tie to the 6th house makes it a symbol of routine and upkeep, not a medical forecast.
Virgo stellium examples: a 1965 cohort cluster and two personal ones
First imagined chart: Mars, Uranus and Pluto in Virgo, born in February 1965, inside that eight-month window. The Sun is in Aquarius, so Mercury, which never strays far from the Sun, is nowhere near Virgo either. Everyone born that month shares the cluster, so it describes a cohort before a person: impatience with systems that do not work, and a habit of rebuilding them rather than complaining. At work it is the colleague who rewrites the shared rota from scratch over a weekend. Its house, and any Virgo Moon or Ascendant, make it personal.
Second, a personal one: the Sun, Mercury and Venus together in Virgo, which is 3.9% of Virgo stelliums and needs a birthday between about 22 August and 23 September. Affection here is shown by fixing things. This person mends the bicycle puncture, books the dental appointment you kept forgetting and finds the cheaper insurance, and is puzzled when a partner says they never hear the words. Venus is in fall in Virgo, so praise is received awkwardly and given in the form of help.
A third invented case: the Moon, Mercury and Saturn in Virgo, from one of Saturn's two Virgo spells in the sample, 1978–80 or 2007–09. The Moon settles by checking. This person keeps a first-aid kit in the car, reads the cancellation terms before booking and lies awake rehearsing what could go wrong with Thursday's presentation. The irritating part, for everyone else, is how often the worry proves correct.
Mercury, Jupiter and Venus: three dignity states in one Virgo stellium
Mercury rules Virgo and is also exalted there, the only case in the traditional scheme where a planet's own sign and its sign of exaltation are the same. So a Mercury inside the cluster is at full strength twice over, and it tends to run the group: the cluster thinks before it feels, and lists before it acts. Yet Mercury is in only 39.7% of Virgo stelliums. Mars (42.1%) turns up more often, because of the 1960s windows.
When Mercury is outside the cluster, every Virgo planet reports to wherever Mercury is. In the February 1965 chart above, Mercury sits near an Aquarius Sun, a long way from Virgo, and the cluster's practical drive gets sent into that sign's concerns: a group, a cause, a network of friends. Find Mercury's sign and house before reading the cluster itself.
Jupiter is in detriment in Virgo and sits in 29.1% of these stelliums. Detriment is not bad luck. Jupiter, the planet of breadth, is working in a sign of detail, so growth comes by narrowing: the specialist in one kind of contract law or one breed of dog. Venus is in fall in Virgo (33.8% of clusters), which describes love that measures and checks, not love that is missing. A Mercury at home, a Jupiter in detriment and a Venus in fall can share one Virgo stellium, so read the members one at a time.
Across the zodiac is Pisces, the sign of surrender, merging and not knowing. The Virgo–Pisces axis is method against faith, and a heavy Virgo chart often spends years learning that some things cannot be fixed by doing them more carefully.
Virgo stellium by house: Pisces, Virgo and Sagittarius rising
The table below counts whole-sign houses from the rising sign and links each row to its house page. Three risings show how far apart the same Virgo cluster can land.
Pisces rising puts Virgo in the 7th, opposite the Ascendant. The editing goes into the partner, or comes from the partner: a marriage run like a well-kept workshop, or a spouse who is the more visibly Virgo of the two and quietly manages the household paperwork. Business partnerships with a clear division of labour suit it better than ones built on vague trust.
Virgo rising puts the whole cluster in the 1st house, on the body and the first impression. Strangers bring this person their problems within minutes, because they look as if they will know what to do. Jupiter crosses a Virgo Ascendant in 2027–28, so this version feels that transit most directly.
Sagittarius rising puts Virgo in the 10th, the house of career and reputation. The cluster becomes a public name for precision: the quality controller, the copy editor, the auditor, the technician everyone asks for by name. The risk is a working identity that only has value while it keeps finding faults.

Jupiter in Virgo from 26 July 2027, and the Uranus square
Jupiter enters Virgo on 26 July 2027 and stays without a break until 24 August 2028 (JPL DE442, UTC). It stations retrograde on 12 January 2028 at 27°31′ Virgo and direct on 13 May 2028 at 17°32′, so a natal planet between those two degrees is crossed three times and any other Virgo planet once, each in zodiacal order over about thirteen months.
For anyone born with Jupiter in Virgo this is also a Jupiter return. That includes every Mars + Jupiter + Saturn cluster from 1979–80 (a fourth return, at 47 or 48) and every Jupiter + Uranus + Pluto cluster from 1967–69 (a fifth, at 58 to 60). On 10 September 2027 transiting Jupiter, at 9°57′ Virgo, squares Uranus in Gemini, a single exact pass.
The longer weather is Uranus, in Gemini for good from 26 April 2026 to 3 August 2032 and squaring each degree of Virgo in turn. For the 1962–68 cohort that is the waning square of Uranus to its own natal place, somewhere between about 60 and 66. Saturn's opposition from Pisces, which began on 7 March 2023, ended on 14 February 2026. And until 26 July 2027 Jupiter is in Leo: for Virgo risings, the 12th house, the quiet year before it reaches the Ascendant.
Do outer planets count in a Virgo stellium? The three rules compared
Virgo narrowly tops all twelve signs under the broadest rule, just ahead of Sagittarius at 10.57%: 10.59% of the 60,000 charts have three or more of the ten bodies there, 2.55% have four or more, and 0.3% reach five. Drop Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, counting the Sun to Saturn only, and it is still the highest sign, at 4.89%. Count just the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars and Virgo comes second of the twelve, at 2.78%, behind Scorpio's 2.95%.
The gap between the first and last figures is the generational share: 61.4% of Virgo stelliums contain an outer planet, and every one of those includes Pluto. Counting all ten or only the personal five are both legitimate rules, but the tighter count is the better guide to what is individual in a 1960s chart.
Membership is by sign, so 1° and 29° of Virgo both count and no orb applies. The Moon changes sign every couple of days, so a cluster that depends on it needs a birth time. Births in the sample are spread evenly over 1950–2010, while the birth-record study finds Virgo among the commonest Sun signs every year, so Sun-in-Virgo clusters are if anything understated. And three planets in Virgo do not make a Leo or Libra Sun person a Virgo; they add a second, very practical voice.
Common questions
Is a Virgo stellium rare?
It is the most common sign stellium in the sample. 10.59% of 60,000 computed charts have three or more planets in Virgo and 2.55% have four or more. Counting only the five personal planets the figure drops to 2.78%, which is still the second highest of the twelve signs.
Why do so many people born in the 1960s have a stellium in Virgo?
Pluto was in Virgo from 1958 to 1971 and Uranus from 10 August 1962 to 28 September 1968, so a birth in those six years needed only one more planet there. That is why 32.6% of 1960s births in the sample have a Virgo stellium.
What does a stellium in Virgo mean?
It concentrates the chart on method, correction and making things work: the person who takes the second look and improves the draft. Mercury rules the sign and is exalted there, so the cluster tends to think before it feels. The house it occupies shows where that effort goes.
Is Venus in a Virgo stellium in fall?
Yes. Venus is in fall in Virgo, and it is in 33.8% of Virgo stelliums in the sample. Fall describes love expressed through service and care with details, plus some awkwardness with compliments, not an absence of affection.
What will Jupiter in Virgo in 2027 do to a Virgo stellium?
Jupiter is in Virgo from 26 July 2027 to 24 August 2028 and crosses each planet of the cluster in zodiacal order: three times for planets between 17°32′ and 27°31′ Virgo, once for the rest. For anyone born with Jupiter in Virgo it is also a Jupiter return.
